ELBOWS while doing CLOSE GRIP PRESSES (Triceps)

When doing close grip bench press, do you keep your elbows in or let them flare out during the negative phase? :worried:

I let mine flair a bit as keeping them in causes pain in the joint. Do what doesn't cause you discomfort, if you can keep the elbows in than by all means do it. Remember form varies from person to person so what I do may not work for you and vice versa there isn't really any such thing as one perfect form. Although there are definitely wrong ways to do things.

Cheers,

With close grip, you'll almost have your arms along your body ?

Then I tried a couple of times and, along with disconfort, couldn't lift as much weight as w/ arms at 30-45 degrees from the body

My elbows stay close to my body when I do them.

So you push a bit toward your feet (not a vertical concentric movement)

When I do them the bar comes down toward my lower chest area. My elbows follow right along my body. It's more comfortable for me to do them that way.
