Elbow Bursa Sac, I think.

Seconds

New member
Slight degree of persistent swelling in elbow. Feels and looks like a bursa sac issue. Swells even more during strenuous lifting (but it doesn't really hurt at all). Anyone have experience with this? I haven't researched it yet or gone to the ortho (both of which I will be doing shortly), but I have heard that if you let a situation like this one linger, you can get an infection.

If it's causing a lot of discomfort or if it's really warm, your doctor can aspirate it. If it's minor and not showing signs of a bursal infection, then rest should help.

Thanks for the response...it is a little warm...made an appt just to be sure...love to have it drained...it looks really goofy...best ortho could do for me was Oct 17th...let you know how it goes.

17 Oct? Wow, that's a long way off. I would go to an urgent care clinic.

Whoever says that socialized health systems have waits and the American health system doesn't is obviously smoking crack.

1.5 month wait for a busy subspecialty like ortho is nothing. Compare that with 4-6 month wait with socialized medicine. Better yet, an orthopod in a socialized system wouldn't even see him for olecranon bursitis....period!

Wasn't my experience when I was in the UK. My patients could routinely see an orthopedic surgeon within 2 months.

The wait times are not as bad as people think. They do exist, but they aren't as bad. People seem to think that we Americans do not wait for our healthcare, but in fact we do.
