I am taking 37.5 mg of effexor per day, and while i feel a little better i want to get off it because I can't sleep. I am having nightmares that people are pointing out all of my flaws. How do I stop taking effexor? I want to start using inositol. Does it give you insomnia like effexor? Please help me out. Thanks, Jay

Dude, have you seen a psychiatrist? When you say nightmares - do you mean when you are asleep? Or are you referring to delusions you have when you are awake?

37.5mg efexor is a very small dose.. You can consume up to 375mg effexor (serious depression). Therefore giving up for you will be easy. Very easy. I gave up from 150mg per day. You may still get seriously painful headaches on cessation. The best way (I am assuming you have the tabs not caps) is to stop over a 2 week period. As close as you can get to ¾ of a 37.5 tab for 1st week… ½ a 37.5 tab for the final week. Then no more. Buy some 5HTP (may enable you to use less inositol, since inositol is expensive). Try AT LEAST 4g of inositol a day. Don’t be scared to take more if you feel more helps. You can safely take upto 50g (but this is more expensive than a cycle of anabolics).

Try: 50mg 5HTP, 6g of inositol. To save dosh, take inositol for 3 days and if you notice no improvement with the inositol alone – you will never respond to inositol.

Inositol is still a very worthwhile addition to your daily supplement list though.. it is a potent anti-cancer agent, especially the IP6 version.

Inositol helps me sleep..Email me if you need more help.

I had similar problems with Zoloft (25mg dose): headaches, drymouth, fucked up dreams, pupils dialating to different sizes. I then switched to celexa (10mg dose) and after the initial 3 week break in period, I haven't had any problems. How long have you been on? Have you thought about trying a different SSRI?

SSRI's are poor anti-depressants in my opinion. Sexual sides (loss of libido, orgasm problems), sleepiness, flat mood....

The fact that they take upto 3 weeks to work indicates that placebo effect may well be responsible for alleviation of depression. Inositol now has an impressive track record - a much better track record (number of responders i.e. 'helped' or 'cured') than SSRI's. 18g was used in the Israeli study... it helped people that couldn't find help in SSRI's. They even had a sizeable proportion of 'cured'.

Do a search here, or on Google.
