Effexor users, advice required

Around 2 months ago I decided to drop my Effexor XR dosage from 75mg ed to 37.5mg ed in an attempt to wean off the drug. As a result, I constantly, and I really do mean constaltly, feel nauseous. I have tried to think of what else could be causing this, but I really can't think of anything other than lowering my dosage of Effexor.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with this drug?

I took Effexor for almost 7 months, I ran out one time, before I got my scip filled, and started to get real paranoid, short temp, and thought i was hering noices. It wasnt a good feeling. I went back to my DR, told him the problem and he change my meds. Effexor is not for some people. But on the other hand I know people who loves it. From what I remember it didnt make me feel sick. This probably doesn't help much, just my exsperience with it.

damn, i've never had that problem. I've used effexor XR and im using lexapro now and if i want to try to come off i wean the dose down and dont have a problem. Everyone is different, but you gotta take a deep breath and stay calm. Tell yourself everything is going to be fine. Atleast your trying to get off. I have been trying for sometime. Coming off in hopes and i can keep the anxiety at bay but i end up going back on a few months later. Anxiety effects everyone differently, for me its loss of appetite,hard time concentrating/reading,bad short term memory and studdering!

Only gave me delayed ejaculation. Oh, and a feeling of not being happy or sad. Just didnt care period. I like Lexapro better.

Gotta wean yourself off. That stuff is worse than coming off heroin.

i didnt care for effexor. it didnt stop my anxiety and it took way to long to take effect. i needed something to take effect then, not later. I had to go to adderall. I love that stuff though it does suppress my appetite. you can take adderall on a need to basis. You can supposedly reduce th dose accordingly also. I didnt get that luxury. i went overseas and my prescription didnt come through. Guess some of the military guys like that stuff too. anyway, i was forced to quit overseas, cold tukey, during a divorce. Now that sucks!!!!

I'm really starting to think that bro. Today I decided to experiment and take 75mg instead of 37.5mg and the nausea has gone.

What seems rediculous is that even after being on 37.5mg for 3-4 months, my body could not adjust to that lower dose because it was used to 75mg ed for over a year.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. I would like to come off - only because it screws with my cholesterol - but easier said than done.

I was on that for 2 years, I just quit cold turkey, and it sucked but been done with it for several years now.

I think I could have quit as long as there wasn't anything causing anxiety, and as we all know that can be anything. The good thing about adderall is that you can take it on a need-to basis. it takes effect in about 45 min and last 8-10 hrs for me at it's highest effectiveness. Glad to hear you could quit. did things change that relieved some of your stress or what?
