Right wing, used synonomously with Republicanism, is not what I consider myself. I do not hold to the Republican Party platform, nor support their current actions. Libertarianism holds more value to me that any of the other parties in the US.

ttlpkg more closely resembles what is commonly considered right wing on this board, in my opinion.

I was sure you were Tim McVeigh... oh... i guess that would be kinda hard....

don't libertarians oppose government intervention in social affairs? wouldn't that conflict with your pro-life stance?

No. Government's rightful authority is to intervene in situations where the rights of one are infringed upon by another, such as murder, theft, rape, etc. Since I understand the fetus to be a unique individual, I consider it imparted with certain rights of nature, thus demanding of protection.

The Libertarian approach to sex, marriage, drug use, etc. all hinge upon the basic idea that these actions harm no one, thus require no interference from government.

The belief that drug use harms no one seems to ignore the fact that a very high % of those arrested for violent crimes have a history of drug & alcohol use/abuse and it's often present in their system while the crimes are committed.
No doubt you've heard this before and will respond appropriately.

:)

(I vote for curling or ttlpkg)

Yes, this correlation is high, but to lay causation on the drug ignores the fact that many times more people use drugs with never commiting any crime. Not to mention, other factors could be just as easily correlated to criminality, such as race, gender, family structure, etc. We don't want a "War on Black Urban Males" do we?

But the main idea is that government's coercive role was meant to be used in actual violations of rights, i.e. the crime, and not for every potential assumption.

We pretty much have one already, albeit largely justified. Besides, I live in the suburbs anyway.
Damn, I just realized this is the racial breakdown of my area:

Races in Rancho Palos Verdes:

* White Non-Hispanic (63.1%)
* Chinese (8.5%)
* Japanese (7.9%)
* Hispanic (5.7%)
* Korean (5.0%)
* Two or more races (3.4%)
* Black (2.0%)
* Asian Indian (1.6%)
* Filipino (1.5%)
* Other race (1.2%)
* Other Asian (1.2%)
* American Indian (0.6%)
