Eddoes?

So i was in the supermarket looking for yams and all they had were HUGE yams but next to them were small fist sized looking yams but they weren't yams they were Eddoes
So i buy one and bake it like a yam and eat it and it tasted pretty similar just a bit more mushy

Anyway anyone know if these are good? What's the GI like on them?

OOO..I did some research on those little devils a while back.....GI was almost as high as Glucose, carbs were about 60-70 per 4grams, and they even had 2-3 g of fat....weird for such a small food, but can really wreck your diet.....





























PS. kidding bra - never even heard of em - but, I'll look into it....

of course i know what eddoes are
aka TARO
used lots in chinese japanese and jamaican cooking oh yea the hawaiian make poi out of it
GI = 54, 35 g carbs per 150g serving
very high in calcium
interesting thing, in china we mash it sometimes and use as a breading for a mixture of ground pork and shrimp and deep fry it
sometimes see this in dim sum restaurants and small brown mounds with a lacey kinda texture
pretty good i used to love these but i cannot eat deepfried foods anymore

I've seen that stuff used alot in thailand and it's used in the far east and by the mauris too
