It's a guideline for a 14 week periodization program. You cycle down from high reps to lower reps over 14 weeks, and it's supposed to help your strength peak at the right time. You're supposed to figure like an %11 strength increase, so if you bench 450 now and you follow the peaking program, you'd be able to bench 500 in week 14.

It doesn't mention assistance work, but Coan's routine might look something like this.

WED
bench
incline 1x5
OHP 1x5

FRI
skwat
abs
(insert hamstring exercise here/stiff dead/etc) 1x5
