Under the deal, nearly everyone earning a paycheck would receive at least $300 from the Internal Revenue Service. Most workers would receive rebates of $600 each, or $1,200 per couple. Families with children would receive an additional payment of $300 per child. Workers who earned at least $3,000 last year -- but not enough to pay income taxes -- would be eligible for $300.
Most people in middle income brackets would get about $600 apiece. I still think it's putting a band-aid on a bullet wound. We need to go through the pain of a recession and return to a more stable market place. The Fed reducing interest rates and this stimulus package are only prolonging the agony.

unfortunately i tend to agree with you. this "band aid" it just another GOP temporary spin to try and make sure their boy gets elected in november. post election all hell's gonna break loose
okay so all these people get paychecks. they all run to spend it on plasma tv's, rims, etc.
So how is all of this going to help with banks being solvent, the housing industry, bottom-line of corporations to prevent major layoffs, gas prices, the whole economic picture?
Just another political ploy to appease the masses. All of this is equivalent to what, a 2 month bill in iraq?
