You didn't say if you are at college on a restricted meal plan or in the dorms or can pack your own. I work 20 miles from home so I pack all my shit with me for 4 meals and enough protein mix & a bar just in case. I never know if I have to stay late and then hit the gym from there - so I could easily be away from home until 10 pm. I prefer real food.
After a while you get where you can't deal w/ protein mix too much anyway. The bars just arent' a good habit to get into. It takes some planning, but get a soft -side cooler & some ice packs and tupperware. Its much more convenient if you have access to a microwave, but if not, sandwiches are good. Tuna is a good emergency food. A couple of those single serving onces with the pull-top covers work good. I can't stand straight tuna anymore so I carry those little mustard condiment things to mix in. Or sometimes you just get used to cold food. If you want to do it bad enough, you will find a way. Oatmeal is cheap and easy to carry around - all u need is access to some hot water and a cup w/ some plastic spoons. I will pack single servings of stuff in baggies if I have to. I've packed enough tuna, frozen broccoli and oatmeal w/ extra protein mix and my l-glutamine already mixed in for 5 day business trips if I have to.
Just gotta be creative, plan ahead, always carry extra water with you and get some mixing containers for protein mix (like the kind you can shake--- the ones with straws are gross to clean out so I just use the flip top ones. Just make sure they dont' leak!) You might have to make some adjustments in your view of what is "gross" or not, but ya do what ya gotta do! If you aren't worried too much about cuttign carbs, sandwiches with low fat lunch meats should work ok too.
