Eat before workout?

I go to bed between 2-4am (work eves) wake up between 10-12. I wake up and go straight to the gym. No food. Post workout shake as soon as I get home from gym. Been doing a 3 on 1 off split. Eating clean every 2 hours after shake. Seeing results but wondering if I should eat and wait 1/2hr or so then go to the gym. I'm 6'4", 230 15%BF. Thanks!
 
a lot of people eat or take some kind of shake or something pre workout. personally i like to get in a full meal about 2 hrs before just so that i'm not hungry, but not any closer to the workout or else i get all ballooned up and full. i loose all the flexibility and in sports, i loose a lot of my speed and agility. it's not so much the type of food, but just the fact that it's in there.

you're about twice my size though, i so i'm not sure what kind of stuff you can hold, why don't you do a little bit of experimentation?
