Post up you doobie clouded memories in here..

A RUSH concert was the first time I smoked the ganja via
the ole pass the joint down the row to strangers party..

I know this is supposed to be a Rush tribute but, different strokes for different folks. I’ve always hated Rush. The instrumental parts of their music are not bad, they wrote some nice riffs, and I respect their musicianship. BUT as soon as Geddy Lee opens his mouth I cringe. He sounds so geigh and I can’t stand him. Worst rock voice ever IMO, and the lyrics are silly and childish.

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion and I don’t expect anyone will agree—especially on this thread. :o

I don't disagree with geddy not being a true vocalist..
Take the great the the bad ..

I remember a rhumor back in the 70's that he injected some
drugs into his vocal chords to get that pitch..

All I can say is that I use to listen to 2112 repeated in high school while high as a kite while I drovee around with my friend in his vw bug. I never got to see them in concert until I was in my 30s and then they played all their new stuff and didn't play one song off of 2112 and didn't even played working man. On the way out of the concert I boo'ed and also got my butt kicked by a bunch new rush loving wussies. Old rush for me thank you new rush sux!

Could be true. You can tell Led Zep was one of their influences. Maybe he wanted the Robert Plant sound.

journey is great, but you're passing up other incredible bands like def leppard, VH, and so on

Yea... Journey was more of a chick gettin band.
You listened to it when chicks were around and stuff to show them how sensitive you were.. lots of balads(sp?)

RUSH.. I mean.. 30 years ?? damn !


I do agree that the OLD stuff and the New stuff wasn't their best.
the days from 2112 to subdivisions was prime..

side 1 of 2112 is so cool if you know the story being told of the dude that finds the guitar in the cave when music has been outlawed by the priests at the temple...
The intro solo was rockin.. bongos knockin etc..

I gotta get a copy of that album..
I had a dutch Master Disk LP, but it got busted by some stoned pud friend.

Ok I'm going to go ahead and make an ass out of myself since it's what I do best.

Is the lead singer of Rush not a female? I've never seen pics of the band and never even considered the possibility that the lead singer was a guy until I read a few posts on this thread.

That said, I can't stand them. Rush and Pink Floyd are two of the most respected bands in rock and roll and my ear rejects them both violently.
 
Actually Journey sucks... but that ONE song is fan-fucking-tastic.

if you like the singers voice in rush, check out "coheed and cambria" GREAT band... his voice always reminds me of rush lol

Many share this feeling about geddy's vocals..
Like I said earlier.. ... Take the Great with the Bad..

Some of his early vocals are glass shattering high..
Other later albums like Subdivisions are a bit better..

Just consider its only 3 dudes making this music..
Same 3 for the last 30 years..
