Im not putting this over at chat because Im sick of trying to fit into the little group of bullshitters they have over there who probably dont even lift. ANYhow, what the fuck is the deal with guys who need to be handed heavy dumbells? I cant stand these mofo's. You know the guys who ask you for a spot on dumbell presses & you end up having to hand them the shit & take it from them when they are done. The same guys will slam the shit out of the dbells if they dont have a spot. My question is: Am I the only guy on the plant who knows how to rock the dumbells into position by using your knees to kick them up?! Also I do this when I sit up with heavy dbells when doing faltbench. When you are at the top & on your final rep, you bring your knees up & let the dbells fall forward onto them, while sittng up--all in one motion. Whats so hard about that. I hate those guys. Sorry---I needed to rant a little.

Nope, you're not alone, I can too. On the flat it can be scary, but oh well.
I think it's kinda silly, but might just be someone's preference, like lift-offs. I rarely want a lift-off unless it maximum wgt. Whereas some jackasses want a lift-off on every single set, same guys want a spotter touching the bar every rep-ARGH. I think doing your own lift-offs and heaving up your own dumbbells help with strengthening anscillary muscles, tendons and developes coordination and balance.

I agree. Also, I start at the beginning of the positive portion of the rep on stuff like flats, inclines & military(all Dbell). Some guys want help on that first rep getting the dumbells up, or they want you to hand them the shit at the top of the rep, so they can do the negative portion of the lift first. I like starting at the bottom myself on those because you aren't getting the recoil you get when you do the negative portion first. Its all power & helps my straight-bar bench alot. YOU?

Exactly! (spelling)

i hear you bro
just the other day a dude asked me for a spot, sure why not
when i get over there this fucker layed his ass on the bench and held his dickbeaters up near his chest like he was a fucking crab
couldn't help but to laugh
i asked if he wanted me to do his set for him too
shit that makes the world go round

:D

i kick them up myself also... it doesnt take a fuckin brain surgion to do it!! most of the guys just want u to look at the weight and say "oh shit thats alot" but most of the time i hand them 50's and 60's, lol

Yeah, the rock back off the knees is key. It's surprising how many people don't use it... with the heavy weights, I just have to kick my leg up more.

This reminds me of a funny story. I was at my gym and a guy asked me for a spot on incline barbell press... I said sure. Now, it was 225lbs... the guy wasn't big, but he had a runner's physique. As soon as I gave hima lift off I could see his body shaking and he couldn't get it off his chest... So, I had to do a 225lb deadlift off his chest from an awkward position... I asked him if he hurt something and he said "no, it was my first time doing incline press on freeweights..." -- turns out this mofo was using machines and just did the weight on free that he did on machine...

I never have problems once I get the dumbells up on my knees. The hard part is lifting them from the ground to your knees. You have to pretty much curl the second dumbell.

ive never seen someone have to have the dumbbells handed to them, maybe a girl, but i cant remember. i have seen people ask someone to grab the dumbbells at the end of the set so they dont drop them on the floor.

yea plifter, i hate that too (curling the 2nd) but once it got so i couldnt, i just bend over and pick up both weights while standing, have them leaning aginst my knees already and just sit down on the bench. then they are in perfect place to kick up from my knees...

another thing that annoys me (though off the subject) are the idiots that pound on plates on flat bench, then (i guess) are way stronger on one side than on the other and the bar is tilted when they are lifting. then the same idiots that didnt bother to put the weight stoppers on the ends (whatever they are called) and well, there goes one side, then the other, as the plates crash to the ground. and of course they always work out with idiots because the guy spotting SHOULD have straightened it out and not let that happen...but oh well. (this happened yesterday in my gym...)

some people are pussys and don't have the functional strength to lift the dumbells. To many machines and not enough deadlifts . My freind is like that and it is annoying.

you're not alone. i'm a heavy dumbell, kick-up master! theres a guy in my gym who will ask for a spot for it seems every dumbell set.. he'll ask someone to hand him one and place the other on the ground, standing up. he'll then take about 5-6 steps back, start breathing really heavy and run to the dumbell, pick it up and have the spotter hand him the other one. i'm like, dude, you're a fuckin idiot.
