do many of you have a plastic chair mat underneath your desk chair at your home desk/computer to protect your carpet ? i bought a nice new area rug for my home office and did not think of buying a chair mat.

this is standard equipment for a professional office and have them at mine. i have noticed lint balls around my swivel chair and am concerned about wear on the rug. i bought one for home but am not crazy about the way it looks.

Your chair will wear right through that rug. Buy the clear one that doesn't have those tack things on the back.

I had one of those mats that had the tack things on the back. Everytime I needed to pick it up to sweep around it, it would just about rip my hands open. I threw that one away got the other kind.

ya when i had nice carpet i had one of those (great for chairs that slide too)

make sure the bottom has a little spike things to keep it in place

to get rid of spike marks in carpet put ice cubes there (read that in home and garden magazine) why did i read that? i dunno yet
