You are right - there are no "rules" in street fighting. But, around me, if you pull cheap shots (i.e. hit someone when they are not looking, punch in the balls...) your rep is ruined and there will be a lot of people who want to fight you just cause they have no respect for you.

It does make a difference where you grew up. No one near where I grew up walked around making bravado displays of "I'm gonna kick your ass." Because people took that seriosuly.
