Drug testing in MMA

This is a good question, one I've often thought about. A few years back Tim Sylvia got busted, and recently, Kimo prior to the WFA fights.
I'm not sure on the who-what-when-how's of the testing, but I'd speculate at this point in time, testing might be sporadic and questionable. It probably depends on the governing body that's overseeing a specific event. Who that would be as far as Pride and the UFC, I'm not sure. I know at the local and amatuer level they don't even bother. Mandatory blood screening, of course, CT results, sometimes, but AAS? Pfft.
As far as the athletes go, I think it's more of a question of who has bad timing and gets caught, versus who is using AAS. Most people would probably be surprised if they knew the truth

Some organizations do, others do not. It's individual to the organizations.
Winstrol (orally) has a very fast clearance time and is very effective for MMA training. I am always surprised when a fighter gets busted for Winny. If you give yourself 15 days, you will be clean. Unless of course it was a surprise test.

No, the individual state sactioning body conducts the tests and it varies from state to state. If its a title bout you will be tested.ass_face said:
The reason I ask is I do want to compeat not for some time yet but I use steroids and would hate to be dissqualified(sp?)for steroid use as some of the stuff I like deca for one takes forever to clear

Why should there even be testing? I could sniff 8 lines of coke and beat anybody in the world in a fight. Get me drunk on top of that, I could probly take 3-4 people at once. Steriods, ect. don't rally give you a lot of advantage in a fight. Put MMA fighters on crack, tell them that their opponent has enough money to buy a few hits, then it would be interesting.

are you guys sure they are not illegal in japan...I could have sworn that japan has some of the worst drug laws including steroids....maybe i have the wrong country...
