dropping bodyweight

black cop

New member
i've dropped twenty pounds and want to drop twenty more while keeping or gaining strength without drugs. any suggestions? oddly enough, i'd prefer not too be so big anymore, just strong and lean.

Well you'd have to drop really slow. The bench and squat numbers really favor bodyweight just from a leverage standpoint so you'll need to offset the decrease and that can be hard to do on a major weightloss program. Either that or just drop the weight quickly in a responsible way and deal with getting stronger afterward.

What you are experiencing isn't odd, look at most NFL lineman or other strength athletes post-career, they always make an effort to drop down to more reasonable levels. Sort of like a car, people really yearn for Ferrari yet once they get one it's more of an occasional drive for fun, what they really want 99% of the time is to be comfortable on their daily comute. Unfortunately, you can only own one body at a time.

makes sense, i'll continue with the relatively quick drop and deal with strength later as you suggested. sometimes it's laughable how little weight i've been moving, but i do feel much better as my frame gets more manageable. thanks.

I dropped almost 50 pounds over the last year. What I would recommend is keeping the workout intensity up, don't think of training light just because you are cutting. Do cardio, lotsa of it. Also, address your nutrition will due effort. If you are a police officer, make your meals and put them in Tupperware containers so eating on your 12 hour shifts will be accomplishable. That reminds me of Ronnie Coleman's video where he is eating out of his cruiser.
Good luck.

Not suggesting you in particular, but I think a lot of guys get into bodybuilding initially because they think they'll get lots of chicks. When it doesn't work like they hoped (women do like lean guys, not huge guys in general), they don't care anymore.
