What the fuck if you gave your keys to someone sober and then passed out in your car, then sober person wasn't sober no more and drove you home.

Too many variables for that to be a just law.

this is how i had it described to me
loan your gun to somebody and they commit a felony, you may be liable
loan your vehicle to somebody and they commit a misd, you may be liable

if you let someone drunk drive your car, and you are in the passenger seat, both parties are liable for intoxicated driving

A licensed driver is liable for what they do in a vehicle - you're allowed to loan out a vehicle and there isn't the expectation that it will be used to assault someone.

You can't 'loan out' your gun to someone.

you guys ever do team drunk driving? the driver is responsible for speed and control while the passenger watches for lights, stop signs, other traffic, and cops.

I'm sure you can argue extenuating circumstances but you'd probably have to have an iron-clad story explaining the situation.

I asked a few friends and they too are sure that being in your own car drunk while another drunk drives will buy you a DUI as well.
