Hey all, Im on the zig Zag diet at the moment and had a question regarding the Cheat Meals.... I current weight about 212 at the moment and decided to make it easier to cut about 500 calories a day off my standard to keep my body weight constant level of 2400... so I get about 1900-2000 5 days a week typically ranging about 175 (at the lowest)-225 grams protein and around 50-150 carbs a day with 150 being the most. My question regards the Cheat days where it says to eat about 2 calories more per pound of bodyweight about 2 days a week. Well I typically drink a little on one night of the weekend, maybe a 12 pack at the most of Miller Lite (2.6 carbs per beer, 96 calories), and then try to eat pretty healthy the 2nd cheat day. Does the beer have any adverse effect if I am drinking it primarily for my extra 2 calories per pound for the day? the only thing I see thats negative is the empty calories, but the 26 carbs I dont see being too much of a problem. Any feedback is appreciated.

Well...

It's not just the carbs that you need to keep track of, though. Ethanol (alcohol) itself has the same level of calories per gram as does pure fat (9 kcal/gram). You should count that too.

Another problem is that alcohol inhibits muscle growth to some extent. As long as you haven't trained for 2 days prior to drinking you should be okay on that issue. So if you trained friday and drink sunday, no problem.
