Drinking booze while on a cycle.......

If you MUST drink on a cycle, keep it to a minimal (say if its someones birthday so you need to kick back a few drinks), try to avoid high calorie/carb stuff like beer, go for shots (minimal calories) and then once you get home drink plenty of water to prevent any dehydration. It won't affect your cycle much but don't forget, you're just hurting your liver by doing this.
 
Drinking and Anabolics - Get real, don't do it!

Don't drink while on a cylce, wait until the cycle is over and you start the cleanup period. Then it's not that bad if you don't do it that often. You can't drink like all those other idiots do. Don't worry about them, you're not missing out on anything. One of the worst things about drinking is that it takes away from good quality sleep and this is not something that you can afford to lose. Excessive drinking also cuts down on your natural testosterone production. Studies have proved this true!
 
Sorry...maybe i should have been more specific. I dont mean drinking a case of beer or getting smashed while on a cycle. I was looking for info on say a glass or 2 of wine with dinner or a drink at happy hour. I was looking for specific experience from guys who have done so and if they have noticed anything at all. Im assuming it wont make any difference if you have one drink. Thanksgiving coming up and the other holidays will make it hard to stay away from egg nog and sambuca, etc.

Drank several times a week this summer. Had alot of fun but now I wish I hadn't. Still could have alot of fun without drinking, and my physique would have been 3 times better. Never again. Actually for the most part except for special occassions, I'm done with drinking. Weed I am done with completey as well. Don't know why I started again when I stopped for so long. Oh well haven't smoked up in several weeks. No more. Time to get serious!!

OMG people, the man asked a question, and of 12 posts only ONE person (chemist... well, and Mike PT, so really two) answered it. He did not ask if you DON'T DRINK and did not ask for any lectures on WHY you shouldn't drink during a cycle.

DocTodd, I posted the exact same question both on this board and on anabolicfitness.net - over here all I got were unsubstantiated "drinking is bad" posts, over on AF somebody actually went through the trouble of posting some studies pointing out how a glass of wine here and there may even be beneficial and the general consensus is that an occasional drink or two or three per week will NOT inhibit protein synthesis as is commonly believed.

Fonz posted a study on rats & alcohol - please note that the amount each rat was given corresponds to about two bottles of vodka in a human which is not representative. And yes, most people's definition of "drinking" (i.e. getting hammered) is BAD on-cycle. But that's not what we're talking about here.

To answer your question - and I'm answering from experience - infrequent casual drinking will not significantly hamper your progress. Do stay hydrated though, and keep in mind the calories in the alcohol if you're strictly monitoring your caloric intake.

What do you expect...I was drinking when I was typing this.:p Actually I don't see any problem with it occassionally but keep it low like Gilly said. And he did initially ask if you "drink at all?" and so my answer was no...btw I was j/k about being drunk when I wrote this.

Agreed.

BTW - Fact: 1-2 drinks of alcohol a night, specifically red wine, is healthy for you. :D
 
Wow, I'm surprised so many people don't drink? I get shitfaced every weekend, but only on the weekends and I see alot of other people out doing the same thing...

But I guess if I wanna make real gains, I'd have to cut that out and get serious. But it's fun going out to the bars, chasing pussy, and showing off your hard earned muscle.

It's a delemma I wrestle with often. :mix:
