downloading music

where do you guys download your music from? I was using Kazaa but for the last few months it has really licked balls. cant download anything.
so what sites are good? oh, and they have to be free. I refuse to pay for something that you could get somoewhere else for free
 
i NEED a blues connection. BAD. Whole albums a must.

I have a hundred or so gigs of music, mostly blues, reggae, talent rock.... I would gladly fork over multiple gigs for the Martin Scorcese blues series. Holy mother of god! I WANT THOSE DVDS/CDS!!!

lol yeah i definitely want to get my hands on that dvd set

try emule. i have used it to find lots of shit that isn't mainstream. i've gotten a bunch of blues from it. you can download zips or rars of entire discographies of artists too.

the only problem is you gotta share or else it will take forever. your participation gives you priority in queues. if i'm looking for single songs i usually use kazaa lite, but if i'm after albums or discographies i use emule

Spyware free all the way. Wimnx never had a spyware issue and I've alway used the hacked versions of kazaa to avoid spyware. Really Kazaa Lite Resurrection is the best hacked version of Kazaa out there right now IMHO.
 
Using K++ still, works ok, but the issue for me is that i want whole cds, not individual files... I miss Hotline.

yeah emule is spyware free

i found the cd's for the scorsese blues films, but not the dvd rips

i gotta find a library with that and just encode them to divx

try out DC++ (direct connect++). it lets you go through people's actual folders and download entire folders at a time if you wish. there are hundreds of hubs that you can connect to, and it's by far the best way to get full CD's.

i used DC a long time ago, but it sucked when the good hubs had 10-20GB share minimums
 
is it safe to download programs like IMesh? the reason i ask is that on their homepage near the bottom there is a message saying that information on your computer could be shared with a third party? WTF does this mean?
those that have downloaded the program, have you been happy with it?
 
Is this all free where big brother can track you and charge you?

What about Napster, they said it's $9.95/month unlimited but I'm not sure if they are talking about just streaming or downloading. Anyone using it or know?

For $9.95 a month it's just stream or something to that effect. You can download all you want but can't burn the songs to a CD. They charge you $1 per song to be able to do that. Now of course you could just capture the song with your sound card but if you are gonna do that you might as well download them for free.

I really like WinMx a lot. It the best for trading IMO. You can message people and they can start you up and vice versa. It's great for harder to find files and has far fewer fakes than Kazaa.
