AM slow paced cardio on empty stomach for fat burn and Evening fast paced cardio for the heart.

doesnt hiit raise ur metabolism, and so u burn fat all day. hence, shouldnt hiit in the morning for this very reason?

hello
there

what are your goals?

this will answer the question really

you can do AM/PM cardio this is no problem. the nature of the sessions and the intensity/prior fuelling will be determined by goals

here are some examples:

recreational BBer/trainer for fat loss:

AM - 45 minutes unfuelled very easy
PM - moderate pace or HIIT after fuel

sports trainer for perfromance:

AM - HIIT after CHO rich meal
PM - Steady state to incldue pre/peri/PWO CHO

things i would dont:

AM - HIIT on no fuel
AM - long hard cardio on no fuel

HIIT for serious BBers full stop
anything over 1.30hrs without fuel PM

there are so many variables. post up what you are looking to do and i can give some advice :)

DOUBLE cardio is THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do it on days you dont lift to avoid over training.

but yes its an Awesome way to burn fat and FAST!

im 213 and i wanna get down to 180. i was 235 before ever doing cardio, and ive lost the weight on diet alone. now im implementing cardio cause i havent lost a pound in like 2-3 weeks (its cause i kinda slacked off on the diet).

i did a test cycle a few months ago, 500mg for 10 weeks. i was 200 when i started and gained like 20 pounds. unfortunetly, i slacked off after a couple months and blew up to 235 ish. ive decided to just loose as much weight as i can, not too worried about too much muscle loss. although, so far, i havent lost any muscle mass.

in a nutshell. i want to lose as much weight (fat) as possible. keeping muscle would be a +, but if i lose a little im ok with it. i dont expect to do this overnight, but just wanna make sure im doing it as quick as possible the correct way.

ps. i really thought that hiit boosted ur metabolism thru out the day, and ive read articles saying this is the reason to do hiit in the am with an empty stomach. that way u lose weight thru out the day... thought?

gear will hold onto lean tissue

so

weights days =

AM unfuelled cardio
PM weights fuelled with CHO unless your running a keto diet

non weights days

AM unfuelled cardio
PM cardio of choice whether it be HIIT or SS at a slightly higher intensity

IMO dont have specific pre/peri/pwo protocol for the second cardio session, eat as you would before

can i do hiit on the am on ampty stomach? or have my oatmeal before the hiit?
i just want to lose as much fat as possible, and have been told hiit in the am, empty stomac is the way to go.

HIIT unfuelled on low calories?

not my choice regardless of AAS use

EOPC is the main mechanism associated with HIIT and fat loss. this alone means it doesnt need to be done on empty and from most expereinces it can be catabolic and of a poor intensity on empty

45 minutes easy steady state unfuelled first thing

set your alarm clock a touch earlier

HIIT after some form of CHO/amino based intake

but why eat to burn?

thanx bro.

but i still dont know if im correct. hiit does make ur metabolism rise thru out te day right? so in effect ur loose a couple more calories thru out the day...
then wouldnt eating a meal, let say 1cup of oatmeal +20g protein, and then doing the hiit have a btter effect, thu out the day, than just reg cardio? at the end of the day, didnt ur body lose more calories?

kinda confused. sorry, lol. thanx for answering thou!

HIIT will raise your metabolism for a period of time (24-48 hours is a range I've seen before) after you do it, not only on the (calendar) day you do it. Your body isn't going to immediately return to its normal metabolic rate as soon as the clock proverbially strikes midnight (i.e., the end of the day). You seem to think that by doing HIIT at, say, 7 pm instead of 7 am you'd be losing out on 12 hours of elevated metabolic rate, when that's simply not the case. Do HIIT whenever you want, just make sure you eat something beforehand.

This is news to me..I always try not to eat for 3-4 hours before HIIT cardio and I haven't noticed any adverse affects.

ooooooooooooooooooooooh. now i get it, lol. sorry... i get it then, ill do hiit at night then. thanx everybody!

so im gonna do 30 min cardio in the am, w/an empty stomach. and then at night, before my last meal ill do hiit for 15 min. u guys agree?

I know you're eager to get your money's worth with the machine, but keep in mind that it's just an means for reaching your goals. You could use the thing 24/7, but that would probably be detrimental to your physique, ability to hold a job/eat, and pretty much everything else. The most effective use of your new rower isn't necessarily equivalent to the most (largest quantity of) time spent using it.

With that in mind, leave yourself room to ramp up cardio as you progress with your weight loss. So start with the HIIT session in the evening and concentrate on getting a caloric deficit through diet. Then, when your weight loss stalls you can cut more calories and/or add in a small amount of low-intensity fasted a.m. cardio (say, 20 minutes). Then keep reducing calories and adding time to that a.m. cardio session to keep the weight loss at the rate you want. Basically, don't blow your cardio load too early if you want to have some tools left for when your cut stalls.

you are unlikely to see 'massive differences' but the laws of science say:

1-its potentiall catabolic
2-sporting perfroamnce is hindered when glycogen levels are low

these two factors alone would suggest pre fuelled HIIT is far better

As for the EPOC? yes 24-48hrs has been shown, but at the end of the day SS cardio, although not yielding the same EPOC will haave some.

Weight training has adequate EPOC benefits and the NTOC of SS cardio still IMO/IME outweighs that of HIIT

and substrate utilization IME favours SS over HIIT for 'true BBers'

just my take after years of studying it through actual application, theory and gas testing it myself
