Go to college? I mean like music artist, models, Actors. If you read about them, none of them went to college they had odd jobs to support there drive for excellence. Im been thinking about this highly, anyone agree?

That's cause jobs do not make your rich. they provide enough money for you to pay your bills and live a lifestyle that one would expect to have in accordance wih your salary.

You want to get rich, you need to think outside the box. Invest properly. Take risks. Be good looking/talented enough to model-sing-act-write, etc.

"drive for excellence?" Are you kidding? More like stupid blind luck and inheritance, as in genetics. Sort of like winning the lottery, not exactly your best bet if you're hoping to put food on your plate.

And being famous != being successful.

Music artists, models, and actors are not powerful by any means.

Rich? Yes, they are, but as mr. doc said, we're talking blind luck and ignorance of the masses. I think Will Smith is a terrible actor and music "artist" yet he's very wealthy because 279,999,999 Americans seem to disagree with me.

You want to talk about people are are REALLY rich, famous, and powerful? I can guarantee two things: 1) they are not music artists, models, or actors and 2) they did not get there thanks to a college degree and a well-formed resume. They did not get to where they are because they did or did not attend college. College does not necessarily equal success and No College DEFINITELY does not necessarily equal success.

You've got to start considering the possibility that the cause is not the characteristics surrounding the person, but rather the person himself.

Absolutely correct, my man.

I just saw this thing about "where are they now?- olympic iceskaters" on VH1 tonight. Know what? They are for the most part all very successful and happy. Why?

Any idea the devotion, willpower, dedication, and hard work it takes to become an olympic-level skater? They may not be college graduates but they all have one thing in common with the most successful people on the planet: indomitable drive and determination.

Corporate management usually ain't too famous but boy are they rich, and you better believe the vast, vast, majority of them went to college.

THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD WENT TO COLLEGE. PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.

The reason people criticize college dropouts so much is because they're not doing an accurate statistical analysis.

You take a pool of people who finished college and are obviously looking to land themselves a nice career and work till they're 65, then you take a pool of people who dropped out of college, but NOT necessarily because they wanted to find themselves a nice career, etc. Of course you're going to see that the college finishers make more on average!

Why doesn't someone do a statistical analysis of people who dropped out of college because they WEREN'T fuckups and see what that shows them?

You don't just try to "drive for excellence" you best have a vision and a talent. Or you better pick one up very fast to do something with it.

All it takes is ONE original idea to really get the ball rolling. Something that has not been done before.

SaveKaryn website that asked for cash donations and BumFights DVD are the two that come to my mind.

lol

yep supernav. You've got your ex-criminal-come-to-US-and-jump-into-welfare immigrants and you have the people who actually came here because of stories of the "land of opportunity" who actually find an opportunity. Natural born US citizens have such a great opportunity and they waste it by actively participating in such a fucked up system and taking everything in as if it were fact.

I may be stuck in a university until April, but the last thing I'll do is accept any of this nonsense as truth of how the real world works - that's why I'll succeed whereas people such as those who ask the teacher about everything and whine about assignment due date extensions won't get anywhere.

Bill Gates dropped out of college his first year.

I retired the first time at 35. I never would have had my careers if I had taken the time to finish college.

First, i believe a university education, except sciences and engineering, is not worth anything.
I´m studying business administration and i haven´t learned anything that i could use lateron and this probably will not change.

But you get to know a lot of people in important positions or people that will be in important positions lateron, which will give you a big advantage in life, surely more than that stupid piece of paper you recieve at the end.

I don´t know about the US , but the big enterprises in Germany have mostly graduates as CEOs, in fact i don´t know any1 that isn´t.
How many people really become succesful business people of those who wanted to start their own business and how many graduates get at least a decent paying job?

The chances with university, even if you learn nothing useful at all, are probably better.

I read an interview with someone responsible for hiring people and he said the big thing about the diplom was to see if people have the endurance to get through to university and less about what they learned.
