As I am an open user, people actually respect that I am not hiding what I do and in turn ask the truth about them... It's probably just like with the pro-wrestling. They respect it more when they realize that it takes a lot of hard work and that there is no "easy way out." When I get people who come into GNC and ask me for advice of nutrition, dieting, training, etc... I tell them that no matter what they do, that there is no easy way out... that no matter what they do or take, it has to do with diet, that the "normal" way of life is not what life should be, but what the generally _lazy_ humans have made it to be. For example:
"Eat 3 meals a day."
Doesn't work.
"Lunch Hour."
Doesn't work.
"Food Pyramid."
Let's not even go there...
"I live on an hour of sleep a night."
That expalins why I am bigger than you.
"I work too many hours, but I want..."
Fuck what you want, isn't health a priority? You have the power to make your schedule.
...there are many more examples, but these are a few. The fact of the matter is, is that we all have the power over our own lives, our actions, and we all have our choices, no matter what the circumstance. If you want to achieve something, don't sit around and complain about it... get it done.
There are 4 GNCs in my town alone... and my customer base is over 3 counties here in Parts Unknown, NJ. No matter what my schedule, I make it a point to eat right, get to the gym, get my sleep... People made life the shits with all of the "civilized" bullshit. As you guys can tell, "civilized life" has brought humans, in general, their downfall. There is no excuse... none. Thyroid condition, I will accept... but that, too, can be taken care of. Piss poor genetics? I have 'em... get over it and work harder. Age? Don't make me laugh. My grandma is damn near 85 and does water aerobics and even hits the machines... and besides, the same principles apply.
To sum this all up, unless you are physically incapable to do some sort of activity, there is no excuse. Anyone who says that it's from a steroid, a supplement, etc... they are absolutely wrong. I know that I have a certain amount of respect in my gym because of how I work. I respect people for how they work... Granted, I joke around a lot on this board, but I get sick to my stomach when I see lazy people (and I used to be one myself) that won't get off of their asses and do something about their lives.
Sorry about the vent, and thank you.
