red x, or maybe it just takes a little while to show up. That's been the case lately. Not sure if it's from "best uploads" site or what?

ok, the pic just loaded.

holy mongolian clusterfuck from hell GL. who taught you how to put things together?

how much excessive and unnecessary wiring is in that pile anyway? that's a disgrace. you need to unplug EVERYTHING and start over. grab some electrical tape or some zip ties and tape up excess wire into nice neat bundles.

i think i just threw up in my mouth a little because of that pic.

Excessive wiring? lol Every wire belongs there bro. There may be ONE or two... cables that don't really need to be there but I have them there to view the OSD (on screen display) on the TV screen when making calibrations and viewing menus. Without those cables, I would have to go up to the receiver to view the display (too small) other than that, EVERYTHING belongs.

Price for cables... 4 digits+. Some cables are $100+/each.

no, i mean excessive as in there's an excess of wire sitting behind the rack that needs to be bundled up neatly. you could definetly make that look better, i think.

that's insane dude, totally insane. wiring is freakin expensive too. i had to order a wiring kit for the car (will eventually have 3 amps in there) and the kit was $80. i could have very easily spent $200 on wiring just for the car, but since i don't need anything special, why bother?

go clean up your wiring.

go....cle....p......you.....wiring.

go......you.....wire.

go......you.

go.

Front view looks a lot better. I did tie them for better appearance from the front. They are very thick cables and need to be "loose" or they'll fall out of their inputs. I also don't like keeping them together because of possible interference, although the jackets are quite thick and of good quality.

see now that right there is the reason i use a laptop as the basis of my home entertainment

lol You have no idea what you're missing bro. Come over and EXPERIENCE a nice home theater setup with surround sound. The sound will literally move you. It's not the best... (65 inch TV) but you can get a great movie experience from it.

It's not for everybody but for me who stays home rather than going out, it's awesome.

i'd like to have a nice home theater. no point in doing it now with the kids still being young. with my luck, they'd break something.

i'm coming over. you better have popcorn ready. also, make sure there's only one bag and there's a hole cut in the bottom for me. i'm holding the bag, not you.

thanks.

pretty sick system...
Get some cable clamps, those wires are a mess

Can't you do something about the AC cables hanging over the baseboard heater?

Thats a nice setup. Pop a porn in and take a pic. I wanna see if its worth it.

Crak, you heard him. Step up! lol jk

Yes, that is a motion sensor in the corner, so don't even think about robbing me. lol

Did you see the straight head-on pics? The wires are not as bad looking there. From the side they look all messed up, but the front view is good. Again, they are HEAVY and stiff and need to be on their own as opposed to being tied up so much or they'll come out of their inputs/jacks.

bro, had to order a different processor. i'm not happy about it either, but shit happens. it should be here tues/wednesday and i have to send the original one back tomorrow.

still coming in just below $500 on this PC. almost thinking i should've gotten teh Dell though, especially after talking to my dad today and discussing flat screen moniters.

Errrrgg. Why on earth haven't you bought rack ears for all that junk? And a couple snakes. I'm sure they make snakes for home A/V.

oh im not putting your setup down, it looks good...just awfully cumbersome

i often go round to a mates place who has a projector hooked up to a surround sound system, big subwoofers etc etc and its great, though a laptop with movies encoded digitally or with optical media would be very convenient

back in my pirating days (all the discs are gone now, they all disintegrated) i had a computer hooked up to my TV with TVout with the audio wired into my stereo, with a couple of hundred movies (and tens of thousands of songs) ready to go... it was good!!...now switch the tv with either a projector or a big plasma unit, and the stereo with some properly mounted speakers (ie bass in the couch, speakers in the walls) and store all the films on hard drives, and youre set. i just need a place big enough, so that i can dedicate a room to it...and for 300gig drives to drop in price a little ;) (or Blu-ray to be released...thatll do nicely as well ;) )

gag

Sounds like a glorified car stereo. Good speakers don't go in walls. Bass in couch is a gimmick, and would need to be delayed by at least 10-15 mS to be in time alignment with the rest of the system.

GL, what kinda speakers are those?

Paradigm Studio 40v2 for the fronts, Studio CC and a Paradigm Servo 15 Sub. I had a 100 wpc Onkyo AV receiver but soon added a Parasound 2205 HTA? Amp and using the Onkyo as a pre amp.

I like it. Has it;s faults, but "good enough" for me, definately.

btw I'm looking for a Center speaker bracket to go on my TV. Do you know where I can get one? Seems it's too heavy for it and causing the front of the screen frame to bend/move.

lol wouldnt a higher end stereo have timing adjustment like that? my $130 PCI card 7.1 24bit processor has timing adjustment.
