Does the pump realy mean nothing ?

people are always playing down the importance of the pump

but don't nutrients get to your muscle via blood, so if a muscle is realy pumped and full of blood it is getting a ton of nutrients that will build muscle ?

i remember a post of citruscides a whle back where he talked about doing high rep curls with bands to get the bi's pumped and this helps them grow

i would think getting a pump is a good thing, and definatly means something towards the goal of building muscle

My legs never get pumped on my lower body day, sets of 1-3 does that, and they have grown a lot!

Total load and Tension is all that matters.

This is sort of like measuring progress by the level of DOMS. In theory, it would be great to have something tangible to gauge the productivity of a workout with. But, its not reality unfortunatlely.

I would like to think that a good pump is indicative a having a good lift. As well, a sore muscle as having done my job. That's usually my midset. "Ah, I'm fucking sore today, must have done a good job."

But, the reality is, I have never seen sufficiant evidence to support nor discredit the relation of "the pump" to progress, nor DOMS to productivity.

This argument has been and will be going on for years

It's weird I used to think that lifting and growth were all about "the pump" (probably got this from Arnold) but I have found that I have experienced good growth from exercises and reps in which I did not feel "the pump" Granted, it is a great feeling but I dont consider myself having a bad workout or anything if I dont experience some phenomenal pump.
