Does green mean I need antibiotics?

generally yes, sign of infection. Get it before it moves too far down to your lungs, in winter that could get really F'ed up....

Typically yes, green is a sign of infection. Although it could just be a viral cold if it is not too thick and green. If I were you I would seek medical advice, I never screw around when it's green

I thought it was red?

Because, stilleto gives me red all the time. I thought she was just telling me to get to the DR.

make shure that you get someting on your stomach when taking the zithromycin, my wife just got through a course of the Zpac and it tore her stomach to hell. It never did mine, but what she was going through, I wouldn't chance the 10 x's ed on the pot.....

Oh, don't worry about that with smurfy.

She is trying to convince her husband that she should eat more cake to get better.

I would avoid all anti biotics unless it's near life and death.
Over use of these Meds is a major problem causing resistent strains of bacteria form.
If your otherwise healthy your body should be able to easily fight off a common respitory infection in a few days.

not one sumbitch here even gonna make one vag joke, man.... I thought that was a no brainer....

I have about 25 zpacks here that I'm not sure I'm going to use. Do u pay for your drugs?

Oh and Smurf, I know you think I'm a witch Dr, but do the sinus irrigation with the salt and oil of oregano.
You have to trust me on that one

i have a complex about putting anything up my nose unfortunately. i cant even use nasal sprays that are recommended by my allergist. right now im using a decongestant, guaifenisen, antihistamine, vitamins, fluids and ibuprofen. my husband needs to buy me more cake

If JH1 was still around, he could walk you through getting over the fear of shoving things in your nose ;-)
Well think about it, it's much better than taking abx.

First one free??? Thanks for getting me hooked bluta!!!

Absolutely right, you totally nailed it.

People running to docs for the last 40 years for antibiotics when they have colds has created a very serious problem for all of us. Bacteria that used to be managable is now becoming a serious threat again and we dont have new drugs available to handle the problem. My Borrelia, Babesia, and Bartonella infections almost killed me when I was in the acute phase. That is what antibiotics are for.

Zinc, Vitamin C, selenium, plenty of rest and let your immune system take care of you and leave the Rx drugs for the stuff that can kill you.

my husband takes such good care of me when im sick
he goes and gets me all the necessary OTC remedies and juices
he goes and picks up my take out lunch at my fave italian rest
he brings me the meds and a drink
but he wont watch soap operas so that kinda sucks

you have an infection but dont NEED antibiotics. do yourself (and the rest of the world) a small favour and supplement yourself via non drug measures, and let your immune system take care of it (your immune system is an awesome pathogen killer)

so:

get lots of sleep
eat adequately, if not a tiny bit more than usual
drink warm fluids to keep your throat warm and moist (and therefore comfortable)
avoid rapid changes in room temperature where possible
wear appropriate (warmish) clothing
lots of water - monitor the color of your pee. if its darker than the color of straw, drink more

thats pretty much it. support your immune system, and itll support you :)

I don't take antibiotics unless I feel like I'm near death for a week. I still don't like to take them. I had a doc that would prescribe them for every cold I had when I was a teen and I was always sick. I get the flu once every 2 or 3 years now and maybe get a cold a year.

It's the shit for colds I hear. Increases your natural immune system by some ungodly percent.

I foresee this stuff taking down Pfizer some day.

I just took two back to back z-packs for a sinus infection and this is the first time in roughly three months that I can finally breathe out of my nose.

And I can finally sleep.

Now if I could do something about the circles under my eyes I'd be estatic.

You have all 3 co infections? Did u get tested at Fry? I've yet to be tested.
And I agree, I never ever took abx until now. Which by the way, I'm only doing 3 months then I'm stopping. They SUCK!

Benedryl tabs

Crush the tab, sprinkle it into Lummy's packed bong, and your infection will be long gone in the morning

excellent advice. I hate to see people run to the doctor every time they get a cold.

Apperently I looked a shade of green over the holidays I lived to tell about it. I am about 80% right now still a bit of a cough and runny nose but the fever etc alll gone so I am happy.

lmao @ grandstanding about over prescribing antibiotics. Those who need to be able to work every day can't always take 3-4 days off to fight that respiratory infection off. Even worse, even with everything golden delicious recommended, while you're immune system is off fighting an infection, you can easily pick up something like a viral infection. Kindof the kick em while he's down.

Having said that, I recommend taking vancomycin for everything, except what you get from sleeping with super QT... even dermacrine can't cure that.
