does carbon paper stop x-ray scans effectively?

i'm doing a little mailing myself to and through hopefully the highly homosexual united states customs. i hear carbon paper stops x-rays from penetrating. can anyone who has an x-ray and carbon paper lying around comment on its effectiveness? no, really, does it work though?

well, i'm curious as to how any package ever fucking gets through then? if they scan a package, they will see what's in it...right? so what gives? and how can you reduce your chances of getting the package scanned?
