Does anyone use those big training balls at the gym

It seems like this is the first thing that personal trainers at gym show people, but I never see anyone use them after.

Does anyone use those things?

I use them everytime..great for core training..flame me if you want but trust me, try doing a flat bench with dumbbells on one of those things, your abs and lower back will be sore in the morning

They are good for core strength, although I don't use them.

I do a ton of work on it. Since I hurt my back I have had to do a lot of BW and core movements. lots of hip activation too.

thanks. i was actually getting ready to PM you for your opinion

I have one of those swiss balls, I think it's called. They're good for pushups and situps, etc.

swiss balls/balance balance/stability balls

I've seen this shot-put chick train on them - she fucken jacked too, rows the 90lb dumbbells, shrugs the 100's, squats 315 atg. Not to mention her long flowing blonde hair and tight ass....

anyway - I think they have a purpose, they are good for abs - research shows they will activate the most abdominal muscle fibers when compared to other lifts.

I dont think they have much of a place in body building though.

No. When I sit on the ball I get lower than using a bench and the dumbells travel up on a different plane. Keeps everything tight, no rocking back and forth and I feel it smack in the center of my biceps with almost no elbow strain.

I used them before with kettlebells for core training and as Perv said (sorry, couldnt help myself :)) as your 'bench' when doing a flat DB press. Well, and then there are the ol' ab crunchers...

As long as you don't fly off those suckers, your good to go!
