does anyone use shin pads for deadlifts?

Or do you just deal with it?

I might focus better on lifting if i wasn't so concerned about losing skin on the pull

(btw.... yes, i do wear gloves)

Whenever I've considered the idea of using shin pads for deads, I quake at the thought that the bar might possibly catch them on the way down. That's usually enough to make me think about something else.

I don't personally use them, but it does get irratating having blood running down my shins after every pulling session.

I hadn't thought of that.
but the risk is negligible, I lean back on the way up and forward on the way down so the bar will clear.
They don't even need to be padded. The bar needs something to glide off of if it hits my leg.
I'll start doing it. I'll start with a pair of long footballer socks and tuck in a piece of cardboard, see how that works.

Baby powder can work. Whatever you try, just make sure the knurling on the bar won't get caught on it or brush too heavy and cost you bar speed. Also, anything in front of the shin to protect it will move the bar path forward so nothing too beafy unless you want a whole new feel/lift.

I got my homemade pads going
just extra long socks (like a footballer) and a 2" by 5" thin strip from a cardboard box lengthwise along each shinbone
no interference, and i haven't lost any skin in weeks!

I am yet to hit my shins with a bar on deads. I just keep the bar around 1/2" away from my legs.
