I have narrowed the choice down between the H &K and the springfield xd. How many rounds does the H & k hold extended version in 45 and also if anyone has ever fired one how does it fire and do you think its a better firearm than the xd. Thanks

I had and H & K USP sub 45, don’t remember how many rounds it held, has been stolen for about two years now.

Never fired it, so can’t comment on that, I just remember, it was like buying a hummer, indestructible compared to everything else out there.

i love mine. it's a usp and is one of the smoothest firing weapons i've ever shot. i have a standard 10 round clip. you can get a 12 round one for about a 100 bucks, but if you can't hit `em with 10, youre fucked anyway.

Always shooting low? Can't you install adjustable sights? Or just compensate for your own shooting?

Do you mean that you are shooting low with the Glocks, or the HK? The Glocks have a different grip angle than the HK, so if you are used to shooting a Glock, then switching over to a handgun with a more vertical grip angle like the HK (1911 style) then you will find that your reflexive movements will have your muzzle lower than it was with the Glocks. Of course, if you are seeing the sights, then you'll correct, but until you are used to it, you'll be a bit slower.

I bought a Smith Sigma when they first came out for the very fact mentioned above. I was used to the 1911 style grip angle on my handguns, and the Glock just didn't feel right to me, but I liked the features the Glocks had. Since the Smith Sigma was such a blatant rip-off of the Glock, but had the grip angle I was familiar with, I bought one in .40 S&W.

Ya I have corrected the problem with my glocks ref shooting low. I have night sights on all of them however no sights on the glocks are adjustable/ I have read alot of great info on the H and K and I think this is the one I am going withe. thanks for everyones imput. Have a great day..

this should be no comparison, H&K over springfield any day of the week.

I own a HK usp45 and a p2000(9mm)

also own an XD40, its by far my least favorite gun i own

I have a H&K USP .45 and it's the best handgun i have ever owned, much better than any glock i have had.

I have a H&K USP .40 . It's a great gun. It gets a little wild for me on multi shot grouping because I don't have the biggest hands but that 1st shot is dead on.

i agree, the hk .40 is a beutiful gun. im looking at getting the springfield XD too

Be sure to fire an HK USP before buying one. I thought I wanted one until I picked one up. The grip just didn't feel right in my hands. I ended up with a Sprinfield Loaded 1911 after shooting one. The ergonomics seemed to work for me. I tried an XD9 and it was OK. I considered an XD45 but I like the feel of the 1911 better personally. Keep in mind it is a loaded model, not a cheap GI or milspec.

My point is try before you buy. Local indoor ranges in Indiana rent guns so you can try them out. I don't know about where you live.

It's not a bad pistol, I just found that personally the 1911 felt more secure in my hands.

After firing a few rounds out of the XD, I feel like it is squirming around in my grip and I need to adjust or something. My 1911 doesn't do that.

Maybe I just don't like a polymer guns. Not slamming them. It's just me. Someone said maybe I have smaller hands. The 1911 has a single stack mag, and the XD and HKUSP have double stack mags, making a larger grip circumference.

I have an HK 45 USP full size. I have 4 clips that hold 10 rounds each...can get bigger clips...I like the feel of the pistol in my hand and like an earlier posts it is virtually indestrucitble. Very easy to take apart for cleaning. I also have the tritium night sites which I like. To date I've fired a little over 1500 rds with it at the range and like its accuracy from 5 yds to 25 yds. It's also an easy gun to shoot either lefty or righty.

The HK USP 45 compact is my next purchase.
