I wanted to get back and add some strength & size after lots of reading went for this option on animalpak site.. www.animalpak.com/html/article_details.cfm?ID=48&section=training

as suggested on the site I do 4 sets - starting 8,6,4,2 reps then to failure at 50% of the weight on first 8 reps, but have now been told at my local gym that the 2 reps at the end dont amount to anything and do more harm to single joint movements ( other words too much stress ).. is this true??
As I dont feel this is the case - and I am getting stronger as the weeks go on.

No other person is going to be able to give you the perfectly correct answer. You need to figure out what works best for you and for achieving your goals. If you are making progress and don't feel any negative effects then why not finish out the program.

i used to run that same system.. the issue is you are blasting your CNS (central nervous system) and that is slower to recover...

depends if you want size or strength, they don't both always go hand in hand..
