Typically, if I pick up a book I can't think about anything else until it's finished.
But I've been trying to get through "Guns, Germs, and Steel" and it's so tedious I'm only 200 pages in and have read several other books in the meantime.
I don't read much fiction or non-fiction story books, so yeah, I never just read one at a time. You need one book to reference another to reference another to define something in another to relate to the subject in another...

I generally be looking at Musular Development, sometimes I will be doing a coloring page, and looking at the pics in MD at the same time.
TITCR....a cautionary tale to the children...be careful when you choose a field that requires constant learning; You will probably get what you wished for...

I read one at a time. If I am in my 'zone' I can read a 500+ page book in under an hour.
I literally have 100's of books I have purchased over the years that I haven't touched. I am too damn busy.

I find it interesting but his writing style is horrible. He takes 2 pages to make a point that could be made in 2 sentences.
The Discovery Channel did a documentary on "Guns, Germs, and Steel" that was fantastic because it was paced properly.
