Do you need carbs post-workout??

I know protein is a must after working out and that carbs are important, but how many do we really need? Would I be getting enough if I drank a gatorade and had a low-carb isopure shake??

I got a carb recover drink to try it today, but it is 70g per drink. Too many carbs post-workout in one sitting for someone trying to lose bodyfat??

Carbs cause the insulin response that drives nutrients into muscle tissue, so having them PWO is a good idea...maybe 60-70 grams dextrose. The body is "primed" for glucose uptake at this time, too. Carbs are also protein sparing, so the whey you drink PWO will be used for tissue repair, and not converted to glucose. If you are worried about it, take 200mg r-ALA along with your shake for glucose disposal.
