I disagree. Musicly they got better with Sammy, and Sammy has a real mans voice. Before Sammy it was just EVH's guitar/guitar playing, Jump and Eruption.

I like Sammy, alot. But DLR put on such a f'n show....I was lucky enough to see them all the way through the Diver Down tour.

You're right, DLR is sorta creepy. Every now and then he'd do some guest radio DJ work on a NYC radio station. That guy is a trip, during the intro to a song he'd talk about all this shit that didnt' make sense and say shit in spanish.

Sammy added another Lead Guitar and had just as good of vocals as Dave IMO..

I realized they got older, but when Sammy joined the band they seemed to have become full of estrogen. Collectively they had no sack. "How Will I Know When It's Love?" "Right Now?" Come on.

They may as well have worn sun dresses with Sammy.
