Do You Like MICHAEL JACKSONS Music?

All child abuse aside, do you like his music? In my opinion, you can never take away what the man has accomplished musicly. "Off the Wall", "Thriller", and "Bad", are three excellent albums in a row, and I'm not even a big fan of Pop Music either. I think he lost his edge because he became somehow addicted to Demerol and Morphine sometime after those first chrges were reared.

His music still rocks! Later on his music started taking on latent effects of too much estrogen in his system though.

Bad is one of my favorites!

"Off the Wall" was tolerable light dance-pop. Nothing he's done since has been even tolerable, in my opinion, and his creeping insanity shows in his music.

O COME ON bro, "nothing he's done since"?? Not even Billy Jean or Beat it? Hell, you have to like Beat it for the Eddie Van Halen solo alone!

Loathe it. I can't stand the sound of his voice, his tics and yelps and mannerisms, and the breathing. And EVH bores me to tears. I'd rather hear Neil Young's one-note solo from "Cinnimon Girl" than anything EVH has ever done.

Yeesh! Ok then. I like Neil too. If you appreciate Guitar though, I'm not sure how you can find Edward Van Halen boring. Hell, the guy used to have to turn his back to audiences, because he invented so many techniques that people wanted to steal for themselves. The man is a genius.

Billy Jean is my lover.....even tho he looks like an unevolved cromagnon, he is still the "king of pop"

"Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Man in the Mirror", "Smooth Criminal", "Bad", "Jam"... theres no denying that Jacko has some hits under his belt.

Songs are good because they are good, regardless of the eccentricities of the artists. Jacko's personal life doesnt change my opinion that he's put out some alright tracks.

I admit that EVH is a skillful and even innovative player, I just don't like the sound of his music. I'm really not interested in guitar parlor tricks, to me musicianship takes a back seat to THE SONG. A lot of people seem to think jus the opposite, that the song is just a vehicle for showing off your chops, but I have no appreciation for that. Take Eric Johnson, for example. I don't care how good the guy is, he plays elevator music. Satriani and Vai are very skillful masturbators.

An example of someone I like, whose musicianship is superb but is used to support the song, is Richard Thompson. He is one of the great guitarists of our time, on both electric and acoustic, and has been for 30 years, but his songwriting and singing take the center stage. If you're not familiar with Thompson, here's a couple of songs to download from Kazaa to give you a good introduction to his work: "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" and "Put It There Pal".
