Do you lift while cutting?

To prevent atrophy? If so how heavy, do you take sets to failure or go easy?
I do cardio but only lift about once a week hitting each muscle lightly. Am i losing all this muscle that i worked so hard for in my attempt to lose that fat that covers up the muscle I worked so hard for?

Just because you are cutting doesn't mean you should drop lifting. You may not be able to lift with the same intensity, but your frequency shouldn't change.

IMPORTANT:

DIET SHOULD BE THE ONLY ASPECT OF YOUR TRAINING THAT SHOULD CHANGE WHEN CUTTING!!!!

Obviously your going to have to drop the weights in terms of lbs being lifted, but you still have to lift to maintain the muscle you have. Otherwise your simply going to lose it.

Agreed. There is absolutely no reason to not lift when cutting. You may want tochange up your routine/split a little, but DO NOT STOP LIFTING.

I also agree! Diet is the key to cutting, it has nothing to do with your training.

one thing to remember is is much easier to get injured in a cal deprived, catabolic state.. so maybe back off and save a rep or 2 that might end up pulling something

Definately do not stop lifting (where did you get the idea that you should stop?). You want to keep as much muscle as possible when cutting and lifting weights burns calories anyway.

As others have said, diet is key.

this is actually a very good point. I find that I am very injury prone when cutting, especially for long periods of time
