Hurt in motorcycle crash, woman dies

An 18-year-old woman who was thrown from a motorcycle in Toronto’s west end has died.
A passenger on the bike, she succumbed to injuries suffered when it went out of control and crashed last Sunday.
A 22-year-old male friend of the victim was driving the motorbike on Caledonia near Bentworth Ave. He suffered scrapes and bruises.
The woman died on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sunnybrook hospital.
Carlos Silva, of Gilmour, Ont., was arrested at the scene and has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle involving bodily harm.

An 18-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being thrown from a motorcycle in Toronto’s west end.
Witnesses told police that a motorcycle was driving along Caledonia Rd. near Bentworth Ave. when it popped the front wheel off the ground. The male driver was unable to control the motorcycle which spun out of control and the woman was thrown from the bike.
She was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital and is in critical condition. The driver has minor scrapes. Det. Paul A. Lobsinger said extended family members are flying into Toronto.
