I have close friend that is gay.. We have been friends all our lives he told me about 2 years ago.. We are still friends.

I do. My mom's sister. She never told her family until she was in her late 50's! They never had a clue she was gay either. I always knew, but they come from a different era where it was not common OR talked about. My mom was shocked-lol.
I also have two VERY close male gay pals who are like brother's to me. I've known them for over 20 year's. I adore them beyond words.

my cousin. . .she was never a girly-girl. . .always seemed a little butch. . .i wasn't surprised or shocked when i found out. . .her parents (my aunt and uncle) are very religious. . .my uncle took it particularly hard. . .funny thing is, she's a minister. . .methodist i think. . .they're pretty progressive and live-and-let-live so it ain't no thang. . .

I have 2 gay relatives that I know of. My uncle on my moms side is the funniest guy I have ever met. He is so open about it and cracks jokes about it and everything. I dont even know when I hit reality that he was gay, I mean it is so noticable. He is of course the women of the relationship so there is no hiding his sexuality. He is cool shit.
My great uncle on my dads side is also gay. I found out when I was about 14 or so, I dont really know the guy so I dont give a damn what he does or does not do. All I know is he is a great interior designer!

i havent talked to any one outside my core family in 5 + years. so I have no idea, no I assume.

so, i have a cousin that i've always known is gay. I mean, from the time we were little, i just sort of knew, but when we got older, he only told me and I never said a word to anyone.
so, he recently found out he's HIV positive and decided he better tell the rest of the family. for weeks he agonized over telling them. he was more worried about telling them the gay part, rather than the HIV part.
he flew home and told his parents and my other cousins that he was gay. their reaction: "we know".
the HIV part- that was sad. I love him very much, and wouldn't want anything to happen to him.

i have a female cousin who is.
it actually surprised the shit outta me at first, i just thought she suck at getting guys. but looking back it made sense.
my uncle (her dad) is pretty hardcore conservative, so i think it was hard on him, but he got over it pretty quick being that it is his daughter.
