BA in Communications / PR (that one was real useful....)
MBA in Hospitality Global Business

i'm taking a minor in comm, sad thing is i actually enjoy reading about human communication more than my main concentration in management engineering for manufacturing

KB, what made you choose that particular MBA?

it's a useful minor. it was very heavy in writing when I was in school and that has paid off big time. it's a skill that I look for first and foremost when interviewing and it's a knockout one too.

I pretty much knew the general area that I wanted to work in at some point in my senior year of undergrad but felt I needed more general business training and also needed to grow up a bit. It worked out that one of the few schools in the country that have a Hospitality grad program just happened to be in Providence, where I grew up and where my parents lived (free housing is the shit). So I did it up. Only other choice involved me moving to a school that had a grad program in Sports Business Management, but I didn't want to pigeon hole myself into sports, even though that is what I work in now.

I'm working on a BS in Finance, not sure about a minor yet

hell yeah. LOL @ you remember that.

1st yr: ISU final GPA = 1.75 (wow, very immature. never went to class. drinking problem)

2nd yr: lived at home. went to community college (high school with ashtrays - easiest school ever if you want to get straight As in college)

3rd yr: ISU let me back in because I got straight A's at Comm College. Lasted one semester. Again, never attended class. Got 3 F's and a B (B was in Stats - surprising - I skipped the in-class final and still pulled a B)
2nd semester - lived at home, finished up Associates Degree at home (also attended summer school)

4th-5th yr: went to local University and finished up. Took 5 yrs total.

BA in History (specialization in military history)
JD (specialization in business law)

A great strategy is to find a major university you want to attend and is affiliated with a local community college. Take as many classes as possible that will transfer at the community college then transfer to major university. When your credits transfer they will not be calculated in your GPA when you graduate from said major university. Had I actually done this I would have graduated with a 3.9 GPA. I found that my B's came in the one and two hundred level classes in the core curriculum. I know a guy who spent six years at BGSU and was about to be asked to leave. He transfered to Wright State and busted his ass for a little over a year, graduated with a 4.0 and got a great job.

graduating college in 4 years is like leaving a party at 11.....

No shit! Took me 7.5 years to get a B.S. My freshman year was the best 3 years of my life ;)

Senior ring had a dial on side of it ... not this year (click), not this year (click)

BS in Economics/Accounting
added a 2 year degree of some value in Mortuary Science

at the moment I'm soaking my feet in listerine for 20 minutes
you won't find that remedy in any textbook
found it here

I know with I can name some members that don't with 100% accuracy. LOL

I have 126 hours of nothing. Associate degree. A's in English, algebra, trig, statistics, anatomy, psychology, anything that I tried in. Had a hard time in chemistry because I didn't take it in highschool. One day, I may go back and finish.

Why did you chose that major?

Were you planning on grad or law school, or did you want a career field that gives you the most opportunity to say, "would you like fries with that"?

I have a degree in law, which took me 3 years but should usually take 4 if you take the normal route.

Are you a practicing physician or do you work for a Healthcare Organization?

All of the above. Practicing physician, administrator for a fairly large healthcare system, and a tactical physician for the federal government. I'm a jack of all trades. I just can't dance... well that is. haha

oh very cool. what area of the country are you from?

I thought JD's were normally 3 years?
Three years, assuming you don't need to re-take classes and take more than minimum hours, but night students take four. They had two seperate programs at my school, probably 2/3 were on the three year track. The night students were working full time jobs or didn't make the cut to be a day student. I considered doing a joint JD/MBA but it would have taken four years and I just wanted out of law school. lol

1 more semester and I'll have 2 degrees: psychology and philosophy. Planning to go to grad school for health psych or experimental psych, maybe even neuroendocrinology.

swatdoc said:

4 years if you do Civil law and common law (joint program). But there's always a way to do it in 3 years (7 classes per semesters).

Wow is that a good use of government language to over describe something. :) Your screen name sums it up well.

You do any medical writing by chance?

I should have a BS in either chemistry or biochemistry by the end of summer next year. I'm sick of college.
