Average? 3% (or the cost of living increase) sounds about right. But, I've always worked up to asking for a significant increase (10%) or a promotion every 3 years.
What the hell are you saying?!? Do you get cost of living increases as well as raises? If you aim for 10% every three years, that's 3%/year.
I'm just wondering because my wife gets 3%MAX at raise time after the review. Last year she talked them into 5 or 6-7% (because she threatened to leave... sort of) but certainly can't do that every year. Bastards! Anyway, they don't get cost of living shit... but every few years I think they get something like that.
So if it's 3%/year for raises, I don't feel so bad. I thought people were getting 10% and shit every year.
What is the average raise you guys get with the reviews. Is 3% MAX too little or is that normal? I'm thinking the former, but I can't see getting 5 and 10% every year or your pay will be sky high in no time. A!
I get an annual. For the last two years they have fed all of us the company line/lie that things have been so bad meaning your performance appraisal is still meaningful however you will not be financially rewarded for your work. Two years ago I got about 1.5% increase ten last year I had an een better eval and I got 1.02% increase. It basically amounts to nothing at all.
The worst part is when we have our annual meeting they can't stop raving about how well we are doing as a whole and how we are making ground during the tough economy and times.
Mine is coming up in May and it might be the last straw. If I don't get compensated rightfully this year imma be pissed. But yes 3% is the industry standard. And that would be for most everyone and that 3% supposedly covers inflation as well.

Lol, that was funny pick.
My last review is when they told me I was underperforming, so I said that's cool... then it's not a big deal that I wanna quit.
They changed their tune and wanted me to stay, but wouldn't change the review (I think, I didn't ask but I assume)
Didn't matter to me because I didn't wanna work there. Now I make way more money and work less hours. That whole system was taken advantage of by people and they just gave the tiny hook-ups in pay increase to their friends or asskissers. I hope your companies weren't run like this, if so I'd like to hear more about it.
Working hard and getting totally shafted made me realize that I wanted to be in a more performance based job.
