I agree. That and the fact that so many others did as well. They are singling him out now, just because he's at the top. Whether he did take roids or not, I still think I am lucky to see him play ball.

The problem I have is that he has flat out lied to people. Even though some could state the correlation between Clinton lying and Bonds, they really are two separate issues. Bonds lied about taking an illegal substance to enhance his performance. Even though we may disagree with the law, it's still the law and he should be held accounted for this. Since MLB can't really come out and say they endorse steroid use due to the illegal nature of them, anyone found using them should be immediately discredited from any and all achievments that they have accomplished. If not, those that chose not to use will never be able to compete against these almost "superhuman" athletes because, well, they pretty much are.

i think its not right how the steroid witch hunt is ruining lives, but these people know the risks so now i dont feel bad

Nope.

He was a hall of fame player before he decided to take anything. Then, if the book is correct, he saw all the glory that Mcgwire got during his homerun chase, and got jealous. He started using because he couldn't stand that someone might be considered better than him.

If you took away the last 5 years of his career, he'd still have 500 HR's I think.

I agree. That's why his reasons for doing steroids is so stupid. He was never well liked by the media, or most of his teammates, but he still would have been in the hall of fame. Now the ones who didn't want to vote him in to begin with have a better excuse.

I don't think it was cheating for him to take them he just did what they all do to compete. I don't feel sorry for him because he is a primadona asshat who constantly shits on the game.

Cheers,
Scotsman

i feel mostly bad for the Maris Family. they should still own that record

I don't feel sorry for him. At the same time I don't judge him as being a bad guy for juicing. Hell, a lot of players were juicing and Bonds is still the best hitter out of any of them.
I really think that league officials silently approved of players juicing. Why wouldn't they? I mean these guys hitting long balls were selling tickets and getting TV ratings meaning more money for them. If they had really cared about the players juicing they would have pushed for testing a long time ago. It wasn't until the recent push by politicians and media that they did something about it.

yup
great movie too
maris was low-key and the consumate team player
dude who portrayed maris was the sniper in saving pvt ryan

I feel bad for him, mainly because he is being singled out for something that many other players are doing. And we know how the media & the public like to crucify someone, before all the facts are in.

Barry Peppers. He's in just about every war movie. Played Dale Earnhardt in the ESPN movie too.

he didnt cheat, broke the law maybe

Correct. Up until about two years ago, steroids were not banned by baseball.

i don't feel sorry for him, but I don't give a fuck either.

the media should shut the hell up already.

dude has never tested positive and been suspended from the sport. until that day, or until bonds admits it, or gets arrested for it, it is all hearsay....

they should try some journalistic integrity sometime.

it is like with the olympics and Marion Jones...

"oh well your douchebag shotputter ex husband who was stupid enough to test positive says you did it, so that is good enough evidence for us"

give me a fucking break already. sure everyone is probably doing it, but until you have some positive tests shut the hell up. the people who you aren't accusing are probably using as well.

I feel bad for the guy. The media thinks they have to shit on everyone possible. I would believe that the media ruined Baseball more than Bonds has.

These two pricks coming out with the new book also. Years after the shit should be over. They just want a Pullitzer for the book when they should have revealed the info years ago. Bonds even said test me everyday, or shut up. I agree with him.

hell at his age most of what he needed he could have had legally prescribed

Barry Peppers and Tom Sizemore just keep thier uniforms on and walk from war movie set to war movie set.

Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds are two people that recently passed my hero Mike Schmidt on the Home Run list. Neither of them would have done that without the use of illegal substances. We may disagree with the law that anabolic steroids are illegal, but it doesn't change the fact that they "cheated" to attain thier goals. It's just like using a loaded bat.

Nope.

Check out this quote:

"Pete Rose bets on baseball during his tenure as a manager, lies about it, and is cast out of the sport.
Barry Bonds takes steroids blatantly and chronically, lies about it, and is still playing the game"

That should throw the race card out the window when it eventually gets used!!!

Yep, either dump Bonds or reinstate Rose.

Basically. Sizemore was amazing in Heat too. Too bad he's in jail for a while.

When in Rome, do as romans do. He lied. Period. We may not agree with the law but bottom line, it's the law.

Then they should also bust/suspend everyone who is alleged to have used...

For that matter then, if someone alleges you are a criminal/cheater, they should put your picture in the paper and exclaim it is so, etc etc...

I don't feel sorry for him, I just think they take it too far without reliable proof (see the marion jones example- I don't say she is innocent either, but something more reliable than her ex-husbands word might be warranted)

I don't feel bad for him. You can't be a douche bag to the media if you're a professional athlete. Look at the difference between how the media treated Mark McGwire vs. Barry Bonds in their alleged steroid use. The bigger the douche, the bigger the media spin.

I'm not saying the medias are right. They need proof of course, and if they publish garbage, then Bonds could easily sue their ass. But it's the obvious Bonds wasn't clean.

1. He could have just fessed up and bowed out semi-gracefully. He chose to keep his feet in the fire.
2. He's got $335 skillion dollars in the bank. I'm sure he'll be alright.

mcguire hit 49 his rookie year and i doubt he weighed 200lbs then, he was skinny, its impossible to say what big mac would of done clean (although there is no proof he ever juiced, but he probably did), its not like he was barely hitting them out of the park when he was at his biggest, he was clearing the fences by well over 100ft at times

True, but take his homerun total and subtract just 10%, that places him outside the top ten. Sosa as well.

bonds is the shit.. i dont care that he got caught he's still in my eyes and will always be the best player i've ever seen play.. people who actually care about this steroid bullshit are fucking nerds who got cut from highschool teams..

Technically, Clinton was accused of having "lied" in a deposition which is a felony, it's no crime to lie to the American people, politicians do it daily. Bonds is accused of a misdemeanor...simple use. If you could prove beyond a reasonable doubt his competitors didn't use anything that enhanced their performance, corked bats included, then he should be banned. As it stands, he's a product of society.

Sorry, I've seen great players play in person, Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, George Brett. You can never ever tell me that Bonds is a better player than Rose.

I feel sorry for the orb. All he was doing is trying to be the best at his job. Did he cheat, shure. So what, so did MANY others, BUT, you don't see them being chased after. Just a mention now and then if at all

Whiskey

Feel bad for a guy who led the all American dream for most of his career.

Guys would give a nut to play in a MLB game...let alone be a Bonds for many years.

He is still free to enjoy life any way he sees fit.

Tru dat! I wish I had that kind of problem (being a multi millionaire being accused of steriods).

Pete Rose was blacklisted forever.

Do I think it's unfair? Probably.

I have long suspected that steroids are quite prevalent in the major leagues. Hell...I know for sure that many college athletes use them.

To single out one guy like that is a bit harsh.

Kind of like Martha Stewart...they wanted to take down a figure head.

Well? I think the media is dragging it out.

Sure they are. Dirt sells. Do I feel sorry for him? Nah. He's a big boy, he made his own bed, now he's gotta sleep in it. I lived in the burgh when he played there, his life was great then and he still always had that sour ass look on his face. Some people are just grumpy mfers. He makes more in one year than I'll make in my life. . .and I do OK. . .kind of hard for me to feel sorry for him.

To be honest though, with all the scrutiny that he's had to endure lately, I'm actually kind of rooting for him. I hope he crushes Hank Aaron's record. . .I don't think he's going to make it though. . .the spirit is still willing but the body is failing big time.

If they banned Rose for doing something legal, Bonds should presume the worst for doing something that is felonious.

Bonds is a fucking piece of shit so no I don't feel bad for him.. Could care less if he uses roids, he's still an asshole
