1. I HAVE A PRODUCER. WE HAVE A TAPE WE WILL SEND TO A NETWORK. THE PRODUCER I AM THINKING WILL NOT GO ANY FURTHER AS THIS CABLE NETWORK I IMAGINE HAS THERE OWN PRODUCERS THOUGH I MAY BE WRONG.
2. IF THE PRODUCER DOES NOT GO FORWARD AND I AM CHOSEN FOR A TV SHOW ON THIS NETWORK AND THE NAME OF THE SHOW THAT WE CAME UP WITH IS CHOSEN I WILL PAY MY PRODUCER A % OF MY SALARY FROM MY SHOW.
3. WHEN I SUBMIT MY TAPE WITH THE FORMS GIVEN TO ME BY THIS NETWORK ( FOOD NETWORK) AND THEY DO CALL ME WOULD I THAN GET AN ENTERTAINMENT ATTORNEY AND AND AGENT OR DO I GET THE ATTORNEY AND AGENT FIRST? ( DON'T WANT TO PUT THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE)

ANY BODY HAVE ANY IDEAS??

I AM TRYING TO GET ONTO THE FOOD NETWORK AND AM SELLING MYSELF.

SAINT, my thought was if i appraoch William Morris ( for instance) before hand I would not have anybody as interested as if I approached them after I had been contacted. Am I not correct? Do I just call them and tell them about myself?

Thnaks

if you are pushing to get into the entertainment field, you should
have an attorney/agent lined up already, at least have a consultation let him know your plans, and have his services available when necessary. that way you can pick one you want,
and not have to rush at the last minute, and get a dumbass

sounds like great advise. i have an attorney who said she would help if she could as she is a contract attorney not an entertainment attorney.

also is it cool for me to contact lets say william morris and ask them for advise?

Flexed... a contract attorney is all you need. I don't even use agents anymore. An agent takes 10% and a contract attorney takes 5%. And since most agents do VERY little to actually promote your career/projects... a contract attorney is usually a better buy.

Also, one writer I knew couldn't get an agent to save his life... but he submitted his own scrip to a producer and got hired on the show as a staff writer... the next day 8 agents called him at his new office to try to sign him. They didn't even realize that ALL 8 had previously refused to even read his script. They just wanted him because he was working.

You need to make a demo of your show... then have a presentation that shows you can support further episodes (outline a minimum of six episodes.) Then... get as many meetings as you can.

It took me more than 100 meetings to sell my first project. It took Vin Di Bona of America's Funniest Home Videos 250 meetings to sell his first project. Persistance is very important.
