i have noticed, so far in life, that "pretty people" rely on their surface attractions all too much to make their way thru this world and fail to develop the personality traits of humility, generosity and loyalty. in fact they usually have rather under-developed, infintile personalities. a pretty face/body only lasts for so long, it's what that is inside keeps friends/lovers/family around you in your 30's, 40's. 50's..............

when their good looks fade away, they can't understand why "nobody likes me anymore".

I guess it would really depend on how humble the person was. If you are good looking but not overly obsessed with your physical appearance and vanity than you probably just grow old gracefully, not caring about it much.

If you are someone who is used to getting compliments and people are always remarking on how beautiful you are, and you go out of your way to look good all of the time and exhibit some signs of vanity or narcissism, then I would definately say that you were likely to worry about it alot.

For example, look at many actresses and actors today. They get plastic surgery, botox injections, and all sorts of expensive treatments in order to remain beautiful for as long as they can. They are in the public eye and I'd say the majority of people would rather look at hot young bodies and faces than wrinkled ones.. I think this is especially true for some of the older actresses. Mens faces get "character" as they age, like Harrison Ford, or Clint Eastwood. Women just seem to get old and less and less roles. Alot of people think that once your youth and looks are gone than that's it. How does that old song go? "Keep young and beautiful.. if you want to be loved."

Reminds me of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

I totally agree. Ive noticed that if I gain weight or get older, I freak out because my meal ticket is slipping away. When you are goodlooking, people smile at you all the time, you can start conversations with total strangers and they are friendly right away. When I put on around 40 lbs and my face rounded out and my gut grew, I lost all those privileges. Now, I get reated like crap compared to before. sadly, thats my bigest motivation to get in shape, the way people treat me. Its a harsh reality but its all too true.

Looks are gonna go, as I age I realise that more and more, It does`nt bother me as much as my hairline or lack of it. lol THAT depresses me.

No matter how much you bench, squat, deadlift... it does`nt matter it won`t get your hair back. damn

Nothing wrong with vanity (to a certain extent), IMO.
 
I have a friend who is 42. She is good looking and always has been. Most of her life she has "depended" on her looks to get her places. She enjoys "flaunting" herself and showing off in a way and looks are her top priority. WHENEVER she goes out, even for only a bit, she MUST do her routine which takes an hour at the least! So if she goes out 3 times in the day, she'll do her routine 3 times. She will not leave the house without showering, doing her hair, makeup, etc. Yes even to the gym! Sometimes I feel sorry for her.

Now she is hitting menopause and time is starting to catch up with her. Basically every conversation I have with her now she usually says something to the extent of "I'm not getting that old am I?" blah blah blah.

I am 30 and I must say every year I get better looking then the year before . Prob untill around age 40 I'll look good then I'll prob just turn into a fat pile of shit..

I believe many/most people become beautiful when they take care of themselves through intelligent diet and exercise

I often look at the obese and fat and theorize how they would look if they were at there 'best' weight

there's so many beautiful people trapped in their bad bodies
