Do any of you collect knives? I don't, but I got a Benchmade butterfly knife today.

I do. Never got into butterflies, though... probably 'cause I never got a feel for them and how to use them smoothly.

I personally love Buck Crosslocks. Their new semi-automatics are bulky but nice.

my friend has an automatic/switchblade.

supposedly military people can legally purchase them? the thing is brand new and engraved...so, it definitely isn't some backdoor thing.

i need a new folder. any suggestions?

do you own a spyder co?

nope, have none, but i've always liked balisongs.

i'm not qualified to make recommendations, but my impression is that benchmade makes good products which are also affordable. i think spyderco might be in the same category.

I don't even know where the legal line is drawn between semi-automatics and automatic knives these days. Push-button, hand-free opening, but they're both considered different? Eh, whatever, lol. As long as I get it legally from a store, I don't care.

btw, this cost ~165. i placed the order in november, but they didn't have it. i forgot all about the order until a few days ago, when i got an email. i called them, they said they had 'em back, and i said, "oh...ok...sure. send it."

price can vary a lot. you can get cheaper ones for 50 bucks, even less. or you can spend several hundred and up for higher-quality production models and individual pieces made by custom knife makers.

take a look at this limited edition BM 46DM. it's beautiful, but even though i could pull the trigger on it right now, i cannot bring myself to pay 2000 dollars on this piece.
