what do you guys think?...

and if you think ANIMALS is too broad then just dogs, lets say. Do they have souls in your opinions/beliefs???

interested to read some answers about this controversy

I'm going to go with yes. Of course I'd say yes though. Anyone who saw my thread with the dog in his halloween costume knows that I'm the type that would think he has a little happy soul.

You can't say just dogs... if dogs have a soul, then mosquito's do too. But be damned if I'll stand for mosquito's in my heaven. So lets say no. No souls for animals. ;)

ever look a dog in the eye?? they don't care for that. why? i don't know. but i do know that your eyes show the strength of your soul.

if a mosquito does, than so does a one celled amobea gonelifting fag

So non-human animals don't have souls?

one could make the arguement that it is all or nothing type of deal...either we all do (including one celled amobeas) or we all don't. personally, I don't believe we do

no.

i've always thought maybe we start out as animals when we are incarnated, like maybe as a paramecium or something...then move up the chain through reincarnation until we are humans and then who knows what...

your joking right.

When Mrs. Digger gets on my case about eating meat, I tell her "you have to realize that I'm allowing this cow to become part of a human being."

Makes as much sense as any other belief system.

ok GOD

tell me how we all came to be then.....

my theory is as vaild as anything you can come up with.

There is no solid evidence of evolution or the big bang theory. There are thousands of years of historical evidence that proves creation.

no.

I don't have time to get into this with you right now, but just go to the religion forum and all the answers are there.

I am not very religious, but i have heard a few tail's from the native's and there belief's, and well i tend to agree with alot that they bring forth. So to make a long story short I think they do. Dog's wont stare you in the eye unless they think they are the dominant animal. For a dog to stare you down is a challenge to fight. So if one is stareing you down get ready to rumble. My doggy has a soul.

great topic bro!

I think they do and I think they are much more complex that we can understand

the only animal that I feel is relatively devoid of emotion are fish and insects

I disagree i think that many can be perfectly meek looking and have strong souls

I have been pleasantly surprised so many times

Well the Nobel Prize is yours. All you have to do is publish your proof. Congrats in advance!!!

what an incorrect answer
my animals have always looked at me directly
in their mind frame I am thier existence
can you think as them?
with what you know knowing what they possibly can't know?
that thier life is finite

we know

Fact: Evolution has been proven.

Is it wise to make an argument about the big bang theory since your understanding of it is severely limited?

And tell me about this historical evidence... Most of the old testament from the bible was taken directly sumerian and babylonian texts/stories. A lot of the story of jesus isnt true either (but he did exist).

yes animals do have a soul.they are soul and body.
humens have a spirit soul and a body.
a soul is thought, will, and emoitains.all of wich animals have,a body is what you can see fisicaly, and the spirrit is what seperats us from animals.when god created man he was alive spirtawile, but he said to adom and eve.if you eat from the tree of nollege"you will sherly die".we all know they eat from the tree, but if god said you will sherly die.why are we all here.if god said you will die.wouldent that be the end of humens sence they eat from the tree.NO.god wassent telling them they would fissacly die.he was telling them that they would spirritawaly die.
from that day forwerd evry human is spirritawly dead.so then we are no diffrent then animals right.wrong.we still have a spot for a spirit, criest died on the cross for our sins"for adome and eve eating the frute"and for evry sin after that, past and presant.criest has givven us a chance for us to be born again.not fiscaly but speritawale.by belaeving that crised deid for us and just asking him to come back into oure lives we can behole again the way god intendead us to be.
alote of people dont here gods voce, they dont understand his words spoken threw the bible, and the awnser is this.there spirrit is dead.the one thing that alows them to her gods voce, see his face, feel his love for them.they do not have.and its a shame cuz all they have to do is beleive in him enoff to ask for it.
seek and you will find, ask and you will reseve, knok and the dore will be opend.
most people will read this and laugh, and go right back to trying to fill the hole they have inside them with wordly thing and wordly plashers.but reamamber this.no matter how big you get it will never be enoff,no matter how much money you have it will never be enoff,no matter how manny beers you drink or drugs you take it will never be enoff.anny thing on this earth that gives you joy, happyniss, peace, love, plasher is only for a moment and when that moment passis, larg or small as hit was.you will have nothing.you will be right back were you starded.still wanting more, and at the end of youre life you will leave this world necked and emty handed just as you came into it.all youre seeking, striveing, going after youre dreams, trying to make youreself happy will all be for nothing.you will not have fond what you were realy looking for.we all look for some thing to make us hole,we all have the disire in us.but there is only one thing that can fill our hole and make our lives complet.cristed

wow lots of responses ;)

i agree with UA_iron alot n samoth on some stuff.

and yes red you did put your foot in your mouth with the "tight" thing :verygood:

I don't know if I even believe in souls, but dogs and cats definitely display some self-awareness and intelligence.

My older dog ginger is scared to death of thunder and will cuddle beside one of us when ever there is a storm. This simple behavior demonstrates fear and trust. She has also figured out that if she wants to get rid of the puppy, max, she can act like she wants to go outside, then when I open the door, she lets max run out, and then turns to face me and get pets. This action demonstrates decision making ability and simple observations.

The younger dog Max eventually figured out that Ginger often tries to trick him in such ways and stopped falling for it. He also figured out that when he gets too hot from running around he can jump in the pool to cool off. Max even noticed that right after it rains he can run through the bushes to get the same effect. He has also figured out that when I'm home I'm more likely to take him outside and play with him when he wants, so he comes to me first.

I could go on and on, but the point is that they have figured out many little things completely on their own.

i agree that animals can show obvious self awareness and intelligence such as knowing who to run to who is the person that puts them food.

but does this mean that they have SOULS? the emotions they show...joy, sadness, etc. - are they emotions and just that? or do they go deeper and actually have a broad meaning and have to do with the soul of the animal? a dog may whimper because of hunger, but that does not mean it has a soul. Similarly, a dog can whimper if its owner is sitting sad and it may try to comfort him and lick him (not sexually lol). so i am confused still and don't know what the correct answer is

Max will cower and wimper just because he thinks he might be in trouble, and has often shown prefrence for hanging out with me above the other faimly members.

If left alone Max will very quickly get sad and act pathedic (even when he is not hungry) and will get very happy very quickly when he gets more attention (even if it's not food)

Like I said, don't know if souls exist period but I think they would be as likely to have them as us.

Believing my dogs have souls helps me keep them close to my heart. I have had two dogs for many years and have had three of them die. I always made sure I had another dog soon after loosing one. Each and every time, some odd thing or pattern reappeard that was unique to the dog that passed. Now I’m not a bible bashing type, and I truly believe that my dogs left something to live on with me.
