Do accountant's make bank?

Think you could talk her into rolling my change for me? I've got so much now I don't know what to do with it. I just can't bring myself to take it into the supermarket to put in the coinstar machine cause everyone looks at you like you're a hobo. And it doesn't help that I dress like a hobo on my days off. And I'd rather cut my penis off with a butter knife than take the time to roll it myself.

I could do that. And.....I'll throw in her a pair of her used thongs for $20.

i do ok. . .'course, i have several professional certifications and a masters degree in taxation and, 'cept for tax season, i spend most of my time doing business valuations, forensic accounting and litigation support. . .i charge $150 to $160 and hour when i'm in pre-trial and sittin' on the witness stand. . .

you asked if accountants made money. . .you didn't say nuthin' about bangin' them. . .

yeah. . .i'm jacked. . .it's from carrying my friggin' wallet around :FRlol:

Some do and some don't, like any profession. An advanced degree with certifications, a CPA makes a big difference...as does a good business sense.

It depends on what you are talking about. Someone with a degree in accounting or finance who is working in accounts receivable at a corporation will do ok but nothing to brag about. Big 4 accountants are a different story. If she works for a Big 4 and her title is Manager or Senior Manager she is doing very well for her age.

My ex-wife is married to a manager at a "big 3" and they built a million dollar house outside of Detroit in 2001. He's also a good friend of Kwame Kilpatrick. :)

It is the Big 4: PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst&Young, Deloitte, and KPMG.

Some of the insiders don't recognize number four...at least back when I still talked to my ex-wife. :) Maybe it's an Olympic thing with Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Her husband must work for PWC as they are the only one who can claim not to be number 4 depending on how you measure it. KPMG is the smallest in the USA but not when you include foreign operations.

In Houston and Dallas most staff accountants working at appreciably large accounting firms start off at $50k (like me). Once you get your CPA is goes way up from there. I would say youre at 100k in 4-5 years if youre a CPA at a big accounting firm.

In my experience, accountant chicks have been all over me because I'm "a bad boy" and they want me to show them the wild side. Most of the accountant chicks I've dated have been stereotypical accountants. I bring out their inner freak....

my old roomate from college I graduated with last summer started making 80k right off, leased a nice loft in the city right where he works

some do some dont. i know accountants who have average jobs and average hours, and others who have their own business, make a quarter mill a year and are seriously in greece for 6 months a year going to tavernas drinking ouzo shaggin russian prostitutes

would that be becker? and do you like it and feel it helps a lot?

Same as any other corporate professional job.

You have your paycheck hounds. Your newbies. Your 'managers'. Your politics. The same $100K pay ceiling. The same stress, deadlines, lack of resources, etc.

Most accountants i've seen - wind up doing the same stuff all day long. Monkey work. Where's the fun and creativity. That would bore me to death. Debit. Credit. Now debit this. Devalue this asset. Credit this. Balance this. Click print.

Hard to learn. But once you do - creativity kinda stops.

But hey, if that's your thang.

well ive never taken the exam before so if i pass it all within a few tries then I guess it was worth it. If i had to do it again i might have just done the online course since i think you get the same textbooks but a lotta the live teachers basically almost just read from the books. A few of the teachers have been good so far but a lotta them almost just read straight from the book for 4 hours. Ive found a lotta the audit and tax stuff as well as the financial reporting I had already learned from my classes in school and it basically was just a review of that. There are several concepts that I had kinda forgetten like the different bankruptcy types etc...

my company pays for becker but Ive got all the Gleim books with CDs and all my professors say the gleim stuff should be all i need. I would rather not have to bother with going to class 4 hours twice a week if i can get away with it.

financial contractor doing books for local client > corporate accounting.

the former allows you freedom, ability to delegate monkey work to juniors, set your own hours, and ability to grow and make bank. whether it's accounting, bookkeeping, taxes, or both.

the latter provides comfy job security. Simple and Sweet. And some people with $3g mortgages and hitting middle-age need that. But you pay a price. Price being you're now a slave, your salary is locked, risk being treated like crap, and your creativity ability stops.

When I need money, I freelance IT stuff to clients. I can blow the crap out of average IT joes.

But being a corporate monkey doing that, for little pay and answering to a master 40 hrs a week? - ain't my thang baby.

Heres the usual order of events: graduate, work for CPA firm as monkey for ~3 years, move on to industry to make bank, or start own firm to make bank.

Its rare for the monkeys to hang around longer than that unless they are shooting for partner at the big ass firm

the partners at the big 4 and major regional firms make bank and have sweet benefits...also I might start my own tax firm someday and they usually do pretty well

who cares if she makes cash, shes a chick and hes a guy. the important factors are her hotness and personality. he should be making his own damn scratch.
