Dissent in Hollywood: Crash over Brokeback = Gay Agenda Setback

Gay Marriage was never mentioned in Brokeback Mountain, so that is completely irrelevant to the topic.

Traditional Families have more problems to worry about among themselves than a damn gay cowboy movie. If you want to strengthen "Traditional Families" and their concept, rather than worrying so much about homosexuals, you can just vote and outlaw divorce. Divorce kills more traditional families than anything else. So you might want to work on fixing "in house" shit before worrying about other members of society.

Funny thing, the "traditional families" I know are not exactly worried or vulnerable to outside influences. Only people with insecurities are threatened by supposed "influences". Mainly in their own minds. People secure in themselves and their family don't waste time ruminating over imaginary crap like that.

What constitutes a "traditional family", trust me, it varies by historical era.

I'm talking this era, the one in which the US came about which is arguably history's greatest civilization and clearly is the best right now.

Mom + Dad (married and living under the same roof) + Kids = the traditional family. ( As if this were not common knowledge)

Obviously other types of families exist and do well, and not all traditional families work, but there is no arguing that the traditional unit offers the optimum social and economic environment for America's future citizens.

Some interesting comments about Brokeback from a Gay Discussion Board:

Will ever be possible to market a “gay” film to a “straight” audience?

If a gay themed film could be made in which the gay characters are not also caricatures (like the Village People or drag queens) then maybe a bridge to the mainstream could be accomplished.

I haven’t seen the movie and was suspicious of it from the first time I heard about it. I’ll probably see it out of curiosity. But I doubt I will relate to it much and doubt even more that straight people will.

And here’s a question for all of you – Why the name “Brokeback”? Does that sound uncomfortably close to “bareback” to anybody else? It seems rather tasteless to me.

The problem with any gay film is that gay people often give it an impossible agenda to meet. Gay people always want a film that will somehow convince suburban and rural Americans to accept and support gay and lesbian people. It’s not going to happen. A film may give someone “food for thought” on the issue, but it can’t change people’s minds. And there are many, many Americans who will always be prejudiced toward gay and lesbian people. Hell, there are even gay people who are prejudiced toward gay people.

"Very predictable, friend. Its also rather humorous that people like yourself who vigorously defend sexual perversion of one kind or another will, when cornered in a debate, turn around and accuse their opponent of that same sexual perversion.
Your defense of sodomy is duly noted".
