(disrespectful) REFUGEES GO AWAY, or at least out of my city

From what I've read the treatment is way better than the New Orleans Flood of 1927. In that one the authorities put all the black residences of New Orleans on a barge and sent them floating down the mississippi playing bye-bye blackbird. (True story).

We've really come a long way in the country.

C'mon, Matt, FDR comment was specificly for your entertainment.

My desire to see all welfare rapists on a public works chaingain has not changed since we waxed poetic in Jax.

Something for nothing should end at 16 years old. Period.

FDR's economic programs actually made the Depression worse. The worst year was 1937. The entire situation havoc is describing has been caused by decades of government intervention. But that's neither here nor there.

You know what's kinda funny: there is a city in ruins. There are thousands of able bodied people hanging out doing nothing in the Astrodome. Hmmm...

Nah, would make too much sense.

Havoc thanks for posting up and kudos on helping out. I find the stories that media are not reporting on like this are the most intersting.

Young people who are healthy and able to work should get their arse into gear and start looking for a job rebuilding their life no doubt about that. No more excuses.

my 2 cents...

Get used to it.

The paper today had several articles stating that the people that were moved from NO had little to no intentions of ever returning. Most of them poor, however but many upper class residents as well. The biggest economic crunch for NO is going to come months later when no one returns to the city to support it. Financial forecasters are already predicting a sort of brand new ghost town with new living quarters built but no one willing to come back and live in them.

Why am I not surprised?
