He`s gonna scope it out and I may get a free system with HD service, but I don`t have an HDTV yet or may not get one soon. Anyone know if that will still work on a normal screen?

I hate for them to run the wires, I offered to do it myself but they declined. They`re all pretty much ran already, maybe just a tweek. I like a clean job which they never do.

I`ve heard the Dish picture quality is`nt as good as DirecTV, is that true? any owners?

So I won`t be posting about 1PM. I hope it`s ok.

lol Then I`ll have to up his rent.

Dish/DirecTV picture should be comprable, I believe they use similar compression techniques. The HDTV receiver should give you regular channels too, not every channel Dish provides is in HDTV format. No, your regular TV will not display the HDTV signal, you'll probably just get the audio (if that.) So basically you should get the normal channels just fine, and the HDTV channels won't show up on your TV.

I heard the regular stations weree "overcompressed" and did`nt look good on Dish. I have no idea what that means, just what I`ve been researching.

Also, I will get the HD reciever, I should get HD channels without the HD, just regular, correct? The guy may give me 2 HD receivers and 2 regular for 4 rooms. I`m looking into buying an HD LCD tv for my kitchen and in the future getting an HDTV for the living room. But if I did`nt get them now, they would cost about $1000 later to purchase as an existing customer. So I`ll just watch regular TV fr now with them (they`re free).

dirctv and dish network are very comparable, don't sweat it brr. i had directv for a long time and my parents had dish network - i couldn't tell any major difference

My DirecTV has an awesome picture right now. I hate to see it go down from there. We`ll see. The only reason for changing is I want 2 extra rooms and they want me to buy all the equipment and a new dish! F-that. I`ll switch to Dish and see how it goes. Same shit I hope... AND I`ll get the HD receivers for free. That`ll hopefully push me into buying that Sony 23inch LCD HDTV that I`ve been eyeing. lol

I wish he gave me an unlooper and cards. I should hold on to my old DirecTv cards when I cancel.

no unlooper and cards for dish, thats DTV only

so I've read on certain informational "for test purposes only" sites

I don`t know details because I`ve never done that, but my buddy gets free channels from Dish with a card. When it goes down he gives it back to the guy and does it over again.

So the guy he gives it to must have something to program with.

OMG the guy just rang the bell. I`m so excited, I have a tingling feeling all over.

I'm afraid to ask what your wife (or you or tiger) had to do to get this deal..

lol It`s tigger but he does`nt know yet. I`ll tell him tonight over dinner what he has to do.

Actually they have a promotion lol they`re always having promos... That you get all this for free but pay a lease charge of $5 per receiver per month and you don`t pay for the equipment. You also have the option to cancel at any time. I`ll have 3 receivers, so I`ll pay $10 extra because the first one is free.

Come to think of it, that`s the same thing as DirecTv where you paid $4 or$5 for each additional room anyway. Anyway I still have to see if the pic quality is as good with standard broadcast as it is on mine right now. That`s gonna be a potential dealbreaker. I may not cancel DirecTv just yet...

He was a handsome Indian fellow. A little short for my taste, but had a glowing smile.
