Dis-spelling Myths

It has come down to this, Finally after reading many posts and being pissed off at the general public and its lack of knowledge, I have decided to shed some light.

1) "I don't want to become huge and disgusting, so I'll stick to cardio." This is not going to happen, it takes many years of intense and intelligent training to gain significant size in body mass. All of sudden they have the secret gene to get huge and if they touch the weight and look like Ronnie Coleman, I don't F*ckin think so.....

2)"Do you think I am over training, full body workouts 4 time s a week is OK, huh? Your body needs plenty of time to recover, and when working out at max intensity many body parts will need more than one day.....

3)"Why can't I gain any weight?" Since you cardio for an hour or burn more calories than you intake then this energy is taken from you body in either fat, muscle or Glucose from the liver. So to gain weight you need to eat more than you expend, hence needless exercises for an hour are not helping.....

4)"If I lift weights I will become rigid and stiff and will not be flexable any more, and I not be fast to boot" Flexabilty can be increased by stretching, just because you gain some muscle doesn't mean you can't be flexable, if you train to get stronger you can train to get more flexable... Speed can also be trained for as well, Olympic lifter are some of the fastests peopl on earth and almost all olympic sprinters lift weights as well, to get speed train for speed.....

5)"Look over there he's gotta bve a juicer cause I have lifting for year and he can do more than me and he is younger." Not eveyone juices and just because they can lift a lot doesn't mean they juice, sometimes there are people who just work hard, and age doesn't always bring experience, results and errors and sucess does...

These are some of the myths that piss me off to no ends because they are based on ignorance, that is why they are myths, meaning they are just stories people tell

useful post and i agree on all accounts, but maybe you should put up links (if you have them) or something to sites. just to provide 'proof' for hardheaded people. (who are annoying to some people as a recent thread here has shown.)

6) higher reps tone the muscle

thanks everyone, most if this information can be found in any physiology book, and bodybuilding book...

any mods out there see if you can put it up as a sticky, thank you again...

Good sticky material. Well said LS.

My favorites, 2 and 5. Recovery time seems to be the most overlooked aspect of lifting on this board. Seems like 90% of what I read is more, more, more gym time.

Second, WAY too many folks here fall into the pit of comparing themselves to others in the gym. Look at the big boys for inspiration, but don't let yourself get discouraged by comparison. It's really not being fair to yourself.

Excellent simple post

Bump to be stuck

1)An excuse to avoid the difficulty of lifting hard

2)The biggest mistake of all begginers(beside diet)

3)But..but...I eat at least 3 meals a day and 20 grams of protein!

4)At his peak size, Tom Platz could do full splits side and front, and so can I.

5)Fuck you you jealous little runt

i met tom today. very nice guy! he is training one of my friends for a nat'l show. i may look into working with him as well.

ps...one of my clients said while looking at his calves, "those look like they hurt".

LOL! just to get them buddy, not to have them. hehhehe.

Number 5 came to me during a day at the gym when a kid said to his friend "don't bother to lift like that guy, he takes ROIDS, and that is why he lifts so intensely, without them he would be smaller than me and you." This was during my natural bulking phase.... Just another pair of people who limit themselves mentally and try to tear down others....

Bignate, its nice to know the pros are genuine people, and not ego-maniacs.....

8) "strech before you do weights and you will get wider"

9) "your meant to run before you workout your legs"

10) "dont do full squats, you will wreck your knees"

I've never met Mr. Platz, but everything I hear of him is positive. I mean everything, never a bad word. A stand up guy.
